I just switched from the diaper service to doing it at home and have found that the bm poops don't come out of all the diapers very well. They generally come out of the diaper covers, mostly out of the prefolds, but the liners really not at all. I have been used to just dumping the diapers in the pail (dry) and the service taking care of it, so have to now think about doing something with the poops. This morning's mess I tried dunking in the toilet to get the poop off, but I do not have the touch that my mother does in doing this. (not sure what she does, but she manages to get pretty much all the stuff off -- I didn't come close!)

What do you do? I was thinking that maybe I need a wet pail for the poops, but if so, what do you put in it?

Thanks for any advice!

For my little girl, I just toss in the pail, but she's still ebf so there's no problem there. For my toddler, I use flushable liners, in which case everything falls off into the toilet, or fleece liners, and then pretty much everything comes off.

What size babe are you diapering?

DD is 6 months old, exclusively breastfeed. I had an easier time with DD1, since I only started washing the diapers at home after she was 1 yr old and definitely had big girl poops. I could get anything off fairly well in the toilet and then had minimal stains.

Maybe I will try the cold rinse first and see how that works. I was trying to cut down on water use and skip any prewash cycle, since it worked before. But alas, new babe, new way, right?!

I did dry the stained ones in the sun, which helped a little bit, but still not what I was looking for.

We dry pail. I don't think I could ever wet pail or dunk diapers in the toilet. I have never figured out a washing system to get rid of poop stains, but I lay them out in the sun after washing for about 30-45 minutes and
, they are gone!
