I need some ideas to get Vitamin C into my kids. I'm mixing equal parts ascorbic acid and baking soda. My little girl was up all night coughing with a cold, and while my son and I have no symptoms, we're going to take it to help prevent getting sick, especially since I'm run down- I've gotten little sleep the last few days and am grieving over a pet we had to put down yesterday due to old age, and also found out yesterday that my MIL likely has breast cancer.

So I tried making lemonade to cover the taste, but she really doesn't like the fizz and complains about the baking soda taste. Can someone else give me any ideas? I'm so tired from lack of sleep and grieving that I can't think straight.

We use sodium ascorbate and just put it in water or juice. Just a slightly salty taste.

I wish that would work for us but I'm rural and wit no transportation, so I'm stuck with the AA and BS.

We use SA and mix it into juice. Works very well for us.

My 4 yo and 7 yo can swallow capsules that hold about a gram of C so that makes it really easy. I just set the timer for an hour and when the timer goes off they know to reset it and take 1 or 2 capsules. This is only for when they are really sick.

If I didn't have any SA on hand, and couldn't get any, but had AA, I'd just use it alone--mix only it into the OJ and see if they're okay with that. As long as it didn't seem to be upsetting their stomachs (and if it did, maybe mix it with something else that wasn't itself acidic), I'd use that for a short-term illness and then order some SA online (or if you have a local store with a good price, that's an option, of course).

I'm sorry for the hard times.

We use two methods... we buy ester c gummy squares at costco - they each have 250mg and we buy buffered powder, mix it with some water and then syringe it into their mouths followed by a drink of something they like. Then we know we've gotten at least a gram into them each day we remember to do it...

HTH!!
