Ok, so here is the mongoose story...we were remodelling the master suite in Sri Lanka, so our ceiling was basically made of styrofoam sheets, with little between it and the roof. We sometimes heard small ground squirrels scampering around in the early morning (or at least that is what my DH convinced me they were)...One night, at around 2:00am, we hear a loud crash in the bathroom. Definitely too loud to be a squirrel, but thankfully too high up to be a monitor lizard (picture a baby croc, only harmless). As I sat there biting my nails, DH went in...a mongoose had apparently gotten up there and crashed through the "ceiling". After what seemed like an eternity of me yelling, "close the door, close the door, close the f-ing door", he did. We sat and listened to much rusting around, then it got quiet again. DH went back in - the mongoose managed to climb back up and out (with aid of shower curtain, maybe). We went back to bed. In the morning, I finally ventured into the bathroom. Apparently, the previous night's adventure had scared the crap out of the mongoose more than me...literally...and he could have used a dose or two of Imodium

Ah, then there's the cow story...heavy monsoon rains, an untethered cow looking for shelter, an open door...and, thankfully, a quick and surprisingly strong sister-in-law. Sorry sir, no bovines allowed...but you are most welcome to hang out on the porch until the rain stops...thankfully no cleanup crew required...
