Ok, all you crafters, help me out with the glue-gun thing, please!

I've never used one before, and I'm wondering if there is any difference in the guns, refills, etc.

Are some easier to use, safer, have different features, etc. or basically is a glue gun a glue gun and it all depends on the skill of the operator (that's what I was afraid you would say!)?

Any tips on using them--either safety tips (I have a 2-year-old underfoot) or tips to get better results?

I'm going to the fabric shop later to do some re-con, but I'll wait to hear everyone's suggestions before I actually purchase one.

Thanks very much!

Well there are low temp and high temp ones. It kind of depends on what you are using it for. I like the aleene's glue gun because it has 2 temps and it has several different tips so you can have a sall amount of glue or a large amount. I also prefer aleene's glue sticks. The glue gun is more expensive but worth it imo.

The high temp ones will melt stuff like styrofoam balls.

They get super hot, so be careful!

I have 2... a mini and a regular one. I just always got the cheapest ones and they have worked well for my needs. I think my big one is a low temp one.

Hmmm, that's all the tips I have right now, lol.
