nak - thought this might get a few thumbs up here!

my gram has become such a lactivist - it's cute! i have had nothing but negative comments since not weaning my dd#1 when i found out i was preggo. i am now tandeming her (23mo) and my 3mo. my mil keeps saying things about older dd nursing and how it's time to wean and how it is more for my benefit than hers, etc. i was venting to grandma and she got huffy and said, "tell her she might nurse until she's 5. that'll keep her quiet! she's getting great hea;th benefits." go gram!

and ot: gram is anti-vax too...love that woman...she's the only one who diesn't think i'm nuts!

P.S. - this from a woman who nursed 1 (for a month) of her 5 kids because she was scared into not nursing from their doc...

Good for her. It's always nice to have someone on your side. Umm...by the way why does your mil think you are doing it more for your benefit than your child? That one confused me a little.

MIL says this because it is a "habit" for Kiera now and although it is comforting to Kiera there are "no nutritional benefits any more. After all she is eating food." She also says over and over "I weaned MY kids when they could drink from a cup." Yadda Yadda...Let's see...what else - she tells me kids will make fun of Kiera; that it is damaging to kids to remember nursing...I just smile, nod, and say things like, "Well, if she is still nursing when she goes off tocollege we'll talk." FWIW my Mother feels the same was (though not as strongly) as MIL so it's really nice to have Gram on my side!

That's GREAT. I've been dealing with a lot from my mom too. She also makes the comment although she hasn't to me yet, but she says once they get soo old it's more for mom than it is for them. I'm like, umm... she's still gettin the good stuff and it's not like you can force them to take it. LOL She did nurse until a year and was pressured to QUIT pretty quick. With me she's like, NOT over two please!! (I'm working on EVERYONE on that one!LOL) Anyway WTG for you grandma, must be nice to have someone on your side, it's hard when you have NO one.

Got a STUPID question: What is FWIW I've seen it before but I can't figure it out. THanks!!
