I'm sure they just write what they are told-not researching too much.

Maybe we should enlighten them

I read about the nurse in today in the Chicago Tribune. I just want ot say thank you to the media for showing this nurse in & thank you to all the Mamas who showed up to nurse.

Never mind the fact that Barbara Wa Wa is a cold tight *ss reporter. I kind of wish she was sitting next to me on a plane. She would never even know I was breastfeeding my baby as I had heard when DD was breastfeeding. In fact DH & I talked about this today. He said there were people who did not even know I was feeding my baby- they just remember how quiet she was.

Which makes me wonder what would be more uncomfortable? A wailing baby next to me or a quiet content feeding baby and content mama sitting next to me.

Wow- you go girl, these pictures look just like the one in the paper. If I was in NYC, I would have been there with you! Seeing you nursing your toddler I am getting teary eyed for my former nurser who CLweaned at 30 months. I guess I am really looking forward to another nursling!

Great job and Bless you and your son and all the others!

At the risk of derailing the thread, I really fight for this not to become a focus in NIP discussions/debates/advocacy. I disliked the last line in the (otherwise great) NY Times article, too: "I do prefer if you're discreet"
Way to give lukewarm support, anonymous guy.

If you're personally comfy being discreet, great, but even if we are nursing with our tits hanging completely out in front of everybody, we have the right to do that. Because our babies deserve to be fed and we deserve to feed them without puritanistic worrying about our bodies.

That really ticked me off too. The article should have talked about tandem nursling, ebf, and ened on a better note!!!

I am not discreet about anything. In fact the word was never in my post. I refuse to go somewhere else when I am nursing, cover the babies/tot's head, cover myself etc. In fact my tits were hanging out in full view but there is nothing to see! One- because there was a baby hanging on to it and covering it ( :LOL ) and two they hang no where because I am a 34 B even while nursing so they are no going to be seen much.

I am of the opinion like you that my baby's well being comes first and that means feeding her when she wanted and whereever so what.

I had a few semi confrontations in my day of 30 months of nursing (6 of exclusive feeding) My own brother asked me to cover my dd's head once and I said "only if you put a blanket on your head while you are eating your meals as well." I had another person ask me to go upstairs where I would be more comfortable or go in the bathroom. I asked that person if SHE would eat her dinner upstairs too or in the bathroom. That cut that coversation real quick.

The only way I would be descreet- whatever that means was when I was wearing my motherwear tops. Everytime I would have one on no one would even know I was nursing my baby from the double layers on those tops.
Thats what I was talking about.
