Hi, I am having baby #3 in early February (my first was a c-section and second was an all natural VBAC) and thinking of hiring a doula. I had a doula for my last baby and it was really great, but we just moved up here so I can't very well ask her to come up from LA
Anyhow, I am wondering what the going rate is for doulas here and if anyone has any recommendations....

Thanks!

try www.birthsupportnetwork.org for some names. pm me if you want personal recs from there. i am a doula, but we are awaiting the birth of our second in late september and i will be taking a couple years off doula-ing. there are also a few group doula practices in the portland area which i'm sure you will hear about, so feel free to pm me about specific people in the groups.

it seems the going rates for births are anywhere from $400-$800, depending on experience and what they offer, and the going rates for postpartum help is about $18-$25 an hour, again depending on experience and what they offer and when you want them (night time help is more expensive).

wishing you a peaceful pregnancy and a safe & beautiful birth...

You also can get ones like myself for cheaper because we are still working on our certifications. So I know they don't charge as much just for that reason. But yes, try the site Claudia recommended.
