I had to call yesterday to make an appointment. I have been feeling like i have a UTI, where the symptoms come and go, and yesterday my back was really hurting when i had to pee, so I think it has moved to my kidneys. i was runnning a fever, and felt like i was hit by a truck. Over the last couple weeks, i have tried treating with probiotics, GSE, and Apple cider vinegar, and i feel like i just cant kick this one on my own.<br><br>
Anyway, i am feeling a little nervous, i will get bad news while i am there. i a going alone, if i can find a sitter, for my 4 kids. Hubby came home early yesterday to take care of things, and now he cant take time off today. He keeps telling me, that since i am still throwing up, everyday, i shouldnt worry. But i do. LOL<br><br>
I am feeling better today, without pain with urination, so i hope this isnt a wasted trip. I hope my doc will still tkae this serious. I get chronic UTI's and have had many kidney infections in my life. I just dont want to wind up in a hospital or something.<br>
Anyone else deal with UTI while pregnant, and successfully treat without antibiotics? I am ervous to start AB's because i have not been on them in a few years, and i hate taking them. Plus i am breastfeeding and pregnant, so i worry about the little ones.

I haven't had a UTI while pregnant, but I had a double sinus infection and ear infection when I was pregnant with my oldest. I did get antibiotics, I wasn't that happy about it but I was so sick that I needed something drastic to be done.<br>
I hope you have a good appointment without any bad news whatsoever, and that you will get something prescribed that will make you feel better soon!

I assume you've tried unsweetened cranberry juice? I have personally never had a UTI, but the folks I know who get them swear by it, even for bad ones.

If it's moved up into your kidneys, I don't know how effective anything else would be to heal. Once you're up there and running a fever, it's pretty entrenched, and alternative things will take a long time to help. There are several antibiotics that are safe, and just enumerate to your doctor how important it is that you get one of those. Keep cutting out your simple carbs and sugars so you're not feeding those bacteria, and definitely keep with your GSE. I love unsweetened cranberry to help, but you really need to find one that doesn't have apple or pear juice in it, they are so sweet that they undo the good of the cranberry.<br><br>

Yes, since i have chronic UTI's, organic, unsweetened cranberry juice is part of my day to day diet. and i even bought cranberry supplements, because i was hoping to double my amount of cranberry, and it isnt helping. It normally does help though.

I Am sorry I did have an infection about 3 weeks ago BUT I felt I had to take the antibiotics. I am so glad I did. I felt SO much better about 3 days in. I have had a kidney infection, and I didn't wan tto get another one while pg so that is why I started the antibiotics.<br><br>

I am home from the doctor.<br><br>
The doc put my on Macrobid. I had a ton of blood in my urine, and the other levels were slightly off. I will have hubby fill the prescription tonight. I cant leave the house this late in the afternoon. I am too sick.<br><br>
so, i was also shocked when they tried to hear the heartbeat. And we heard it.<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/joy.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="joy"> The heartbeat was strong and fast, 170's. I am sooo happy. I didnt think they would hear it so soon. I am just about 10 weeks, and i am quite fluffy, an i didnt think it was possible. I think the baby came to the doppler, knowing i needed to hear it.<br><br>
I also have only lost 4 lbs, since my last appt, 3 weeks ago. I am shocked i have lost at all. I eat all the time, but i am really sick in the afternoon, until i go to bed. then i eat like a pig when i get up.<br><br>
I need to call in on Friday, and they are hoping to have the culture back. they just want to make sure the meds he put me on, will cover the bacteria. and then i was able to reschedule my OB check, for next week, for 4 weeks out. so that is good. I wont need to find a sitter for next week.

I used to get a lot of UTI's too. I cut out a lot of sugar and corn syrup and hfcs out of my diet and added a lot more fresh fruit and veggies. I also usually take 3 or more dried cranberry caps a day, as a preventative. Keeping enough water intake in your diet is important too, and if I feel like I have a UTI coming on, I up my cranberry to 6-10 caps or even more per day, add more vit c and raw garlic, which is a miracle plant, btw, and drink LOTS more water.<br>
But I do really like the dried cranberry daily as a preventative. hth.<br>
