ok now that i have your attention, lol (just use the disposable dipe threat) i really am frustrated because i bought these hourglass shaped diapers from i THINK natural-baby.com, but i just went there and they dont have them anymore...just some other kind that is way more expensive. these -the ones i have-have blue serging all around the edges, but they came in rainbow serge and green. in fact they all were called "rainbow" diapers. i cant find them anywher does anyone know where i can? i need more, but even more than that i REALLY need covers. i like the bummies whisper wraps the best but if anyone knows of a snapping cover that works even better for contoured (bummies are a bit puffy and loose) then please tell me!!!!

i had a bunch stolen out of my car : but also my covers are wearing out, most of them were velcro, and some have been through one kid before my ds.

thanks, because, yes, sposies are sounding great compared to my diaper stash!

Hmmm. You like the Rainbow contours, huh? How are they holding up for you?
I had a bunch from natural baby catalog with my first child. Still have a few left for use as pocket diaper stuffers.
Have you ever tried folding a chinese prefold in thirds and laying it in your wraps? It works just as well and costs much less and prefolds wash up better and dry faster. Just an idea.
You can get the bummis almost anywhere. Do you have the Original with cotton outter or the SWW? I like www.naturalbabies.com for things like cpfs and covers. She has great prices and low shipping. I think she also carries Imse Vimse and Kissaluvs contours, btw.
Have you checked out the trading post for covers?
I don't care for Bummis SWW much, personally, so if that is one you like, you probably wouldn't care which ones I like, so I'll spare you my suggestions. lol

i went to naturalbaby.com !!!! thats why i wasnt seeing what i wanted !!! thank you so much. yes i have tried trifilding the diapers and it is fine but my son is a MAJOR wiggler, and the contours save me from having to refold the diaper over and over as my son wiggles out of them before i can fasten the cover. but yes you are right about that, i think they are better even , hold more pee. thats why when some of our contours got stolen, i didnt order more, we had a bunch of reg. dipes too. but enough is enough. i just stuck a pampers on him cuz i seriously cant deal with the wiggles right now (plus the last cover i put on him fell off ---) please DO tell me aobut your covers especially if you used contoured dipes!!!! i just havent found anything better than bummies but i am looking for better.

I see those rainbow contours on ebay a lot. For covers I LOVE Bumpys. I get a snuger fit with them. I KWYM about the wiggly baby during dipe changes, DD is getting into that stage. Oh yay!

Are you folding the sewn sides in or trifolding them the other way? I can't keep them folded well if I don't trifold them the "wrong way", kwim?
I liked Bumkins wraps when I had contours, just cuz they were super trim and NEVER wicked, and were super easy to clean poop off of (I hand washed my covers cuz I couldn't afford a lot of them), and they dried quickly, too.
I didn't care for Bummis SWW cuz they wicked at the leg bindings and were so thick, heavy and stiff. Proraps were better, but dug into my son's back!
Right now my favorite wrap is a Bumpy day cover I just bought, but I don't know if I'd like it with contours. I snappi my prefolds on my boy now. I hate poop inside my covers. The Bumpy is not really trim (not like the Bumkin wrap), but it's not poofy, and definitely trimmer than a Bummis wrap. I like how soft and comfy it seems on my kiddo. I hate when diapers and covers don't look comfy on, kwim? I hear the Nikky w/cotton outter/ waterproof lining is similar, but trimmer. Somehow I don't think those covers would be what you are looking for. If you like what you've got, no sense fooling with it!

Maybe you could try the kissaluvs contours I have heard good reviews on those, and not so good reviews on the rainbow ones.

Darn, I had a whole bag of rainbow contours I gave to charity because they didn't work for us (I got them free)- if I still had 'em I'd send them to you. I hope you find some.

you have some of which in storage? most likely i will take whatever they are if they are in good shape!!!! i have been looking around some more and i have a question...do you guys know if there is a difference between the rainbow serged contours and the ones that have blue serging? i ask because my friend sent me her rainbows, but i have blue, and my blue ones are still like new and hers have all fallen totally apart. alot of her were falling apart when she gave them to me, but i am so broke all the time i took them...they mostly just get used for my super leaky breastmilk.... i cut some up and made wipes w/them....

anyway now i am wondering if my blue ones are different. my mom ordered them for me, she only got us a dozen. maybe she got a differnt kind cuz i love mine, they are very thick and holding up great. the rainbow stitching ones ARE alot flimsier but i thought maybe that was cuz she has twins, so they got more use ????

kermit you are selling me on the tri-fold thing..no i never tried folding it the "wrong " way!!!! i will try that. as for bumpys covers, they are WAY out of my league as far as expensive, although they look awesome.

i am already pushing it by buying more covers in the first place....thats why i am asking you diaper pros---i dont want to waste my money! thanks again!!!

Here's the site for the rainbow contours, but they don't make the anymore, and have bumkins foldables instead, but this is where I used to see them-maybe you could email them to check availability:

Natural Baby Catalog

The ones I got free were almost new and had rainbow serging and were very flimsy and the middle was all lumpy and bumpy already- they were not absorbent at all. Another mom had failed cloth with them and gave them to my sister who gave them to me. I tried to use them (at the time we were on a tighter budget) but the middle stuffing kept shifting around so parts of them had little absorbency. I ended up frustrated and shelled out money for Mother-ease.

I wonder if the blue version isn't different?

I emailed the company last week - they have been discontinued, but they are hoping to bring them back. They own the patten on rainbow dipes, so I am not sure why the blue ones where better than the rainbow serge (maybe u got lucky: )

I've never seen Rainbow contours with blue stitching. I think the ones you have with blue are not Rainbow contours at all, and I usually try my best to discourage mamas from buying them, cuz they suck, to be honest.
Try the trifolding the wrong way and see how it works. If you want something very inexpensive that will hold up pretty well, Proraps has seconds (pefectly functional) for $3 a piece if you call them at Proservices. Anyone have that 800 number? But like I said, they dug into my son's back. BUT, I think that tends to happen more with kids with skinny thighs. You gotta wrap them tighter to make them fit in the thigh, which makes them too tight in the waist, kwim?

Inge at http://www.diaperware.com has tons of contours and covers (she has the most instock selection of wahm covers I've seen!!) and I think her shipping is reasonable

when i have more time later tonight i will maybe e-mail natural babies and see if they know what i am talking about. the blue ones are way better, and i am starting to think you guys are right abot the rainbows, i mean every single rainbow i have is like you say, but the blue ones are sewn in better and are thicker.

kermit: my favorite prefolds are the unbleached ones from green mountain diapers. their shipping is expensive though, and the other prob is those dipes are SOOO quilty that when i did the tri fold yesterday (the wrong way) i felt sorry for ds ! just so much diaper was between his legs, it looked so bulky. i have thinner prefolds, so maybe i need to get some more of those? what kind of prefolds do you use?

i hate proraps, i have a bunch of them and they are OK but i NEVER want to buy velcro again to be honest. they wear out too quickly. thats why i am so attracted to the bummis, they have snaps.

thanks for all your help you guys, this board is really great.

I just had a thought- (wow! LOL)

Kidalog.com sells their own brand of prefolds called 'Babylove prefolds' that look very much like the rainbow contours. I can't get a link this second, it only takes me to the main page, but go to online store, then diapering, then prefolds and scroll down. Maybe they are what you have? I got some doublers from them once that had blue serging so I know it varies. Good luck!

p.s. if you ladies are looking for a use for those rainbows you have...last night i used one for a night time menstural pad...not to gross you out or anything...but i ran out of my usual pads, and the contoured dipe was perfect. i have a heavy flow on my 1st nite, so this worked perfect for laying down, due to its length and shape, just layed it in my underwear... it was really comfortable!

dont worry it isnt one i plan on using on ds again...i am not sure if that matters but i thought id say it anyway, lol.

just thoght i would share...hope its not too much info
