I don't know if you are talking about a children's book or one for yourself, so I'll give both.

My ds loves the Spot books and the Biscuit books. I think there is a Biscuit book about coming home. He might be too young, but I think Arthur had a book for when he got Pal, too.
As for adults, The Art of Raising a Puppy is good, and Mother Knows Best. These are my favorites for new puppy owners, and I give each new puppy owner at least one of them in their puppy pack.
