I am looking for a good/great ob that is in Hickory or Gaston area that accepts Medicaid. I am trying to get in with Ashley Women's Center but doctor I currently have is shuffling feet about sending my records. This is ridiculous. I don't want to have my baby in the Lincolnton Hospital as it is crap! So doc is taking this personally, (IMHO) and is still working on sending records for two weeks now. I am 5 months with a breech baby and want to get quality care which I don't feel one doctor caring for a whole county can do alone. So any advice is appreciated. Remember I have Medicaid. This makes a big difference.

I can't help since my OB doesn't take Medicaid, but I thought I would give you a bump. I know several people who went to Ashley Women's Center and they all liked it. I hope you get it all worked out. Are you going to give birth at Gaston Memorial? It is a great hospital.

I did indeed end up going to AWC and I was happy with their response time in getting me an appt. (when previous OB took her own sweet time). As soon as AWC got my records, they called the same day and had me an appt. the next day! I met one of the Nurse/Midwive's and she seemed ok to me. I have to meet the rest of the staff but feel this is much closer to the kind of care I received at Catawba Women's Center. I am going to GMH and am so happy about that as I would have been stuck going to CMC Lincoln which is a nasty hospital. They are currently building a new hospital so the care (IMHO) is going to go down at the current facility. The new one is not due to open until late 2010 and I am not willing to sacrifice quality care or a clean hospital. Thanks for checking back with me and sorry it took so long to respond to your post. I just recently figured out how to get messages sent to my e-mail so I know when someone replies!
