When DS started to outgrow his Fuzzi Bunz, I decided to switch to fleece lined hemp with a wool cover for night, to allow for more breathability. I went with a Samuel's Soaker trifolded in a Woolly Dream cover. It worked at first, but now the cover is gapping in certain spots. I don't know if it's gotten stretched, or if DS has grown, or what. In any case, we have been ending up with wet sheets recently. Also, if he poops first thing in the morning, I have to wash the cover and I only have one nighttime cover.

Last night I decided to try him in a solid colored Happy Heiny's stuffed with what I usually lay in the cover: the Samuel's Soaker and a Joey Bunz folded up towards the front. This morning everything was fine. He was dry, he even pooped and it stayed in. BUT.... while I was nursing him I hear a distinctive ripping sound: he found the aplix.

So there goes the perfect nighttime diaper! At least until it's cool enough to put him in his one piece PJs.

Oh the ongoing saga of nighttime diapering... there is always another challenge. That's too bad about the aplix.

Have you tried an Aristocrat wool cover? They're not that sylish :LOL but they work great for us! Also, no snaps, aplix, etc. I love the way the cuffs look hanging out under a onsie The downside would be you'd have to use a fitted diaper under it, but that would keep poop off the cover (also would work under the wool cover you're using now.)
Good luck!!
Or you can try putting the HH on backwards. I do that sometimes for naps. Or I put just pair of shorts on him (baby boxers, LOL, like 3 bucks at Target).

I usually put Rhys to bed with a pair of cotton shorts on (when we are going jammyless) to keep that sort of thing from happening LOL!

ctdoula, I'm working on making a soaker, but yeah, I'd have to get a fitted. I am thinking of ordering a sleep tight firefly, because I like the fit of the regular ones, and I think even the regular hemp is nice and absorbant. I need to finish my soaker, and get the fitted, and try that!

I do have some of the baby shorts from pajamas, I just haven't been bothering with them. I guess this is a reason to bother with them!

Good idea Holly. I bought big onesies back when he still wore them all the time, and he hardly wears them. Now he can wear them to sleep.

Tonight he has on some shorts. We'll see if that prevents him from opening his diaper in the morning!

I hate to admit it, but for a little while, we used disposables on dd at night, and she would reach down and scratch her bottom bloody. My kids have Tourette Syndrome and have some mild Obsessive Compulsive stuff going on with it and Sensory Integration issues, so I thought she was just obsessing and I used the onesies or one-pieces jammies to keep her hands out. Well, I realized pretty quickly that she was only scratching when in the disposables, not the cloth, and stopped using the disposables on her.
Shorts wouldn't have stopped her from scratching her bum, but hopefully it will deter your baby from opening that diaper.

Ouch, your poor dd.

I'm just hoping it's out of sight, out of mind!
