I'm new to GA and I am looking for a good pediatrician near Woodstock, GA. My 4 year old has kidney issues and needs a doctor who can handle more than just routine care. I am also expecting in June and delivering at N. Fulton Regional (a long drive but the only waterbirth in town). I have heard of Dr. Kute but she's so far away. Is there anyone else closer?

My cousin lives in Woodstock. I'll shoot her an e-mail and ask who she sees.

Wow, that's so sad that there is only one good pediatrician around and she's so far away. Someone from my neighborhood recommended Dr. Long in Kennesaw. Has anyone heard anything about him, good or bad?

Dr Long is ok. I still use him for my son and Dr Kute for my dd. Weird, I know, but I wanted a good ped for BFing info and I was not impressed with Dr Longs BFing knowledge (and I am too lazy to transfer all of DS' records). When we were in the hospital after she was born he gave me some tired advice of not nursing more than every 2?3? hours so my nipples wont get sore. And at her 1w visit, another doc (a fill-in I think) gave me the spiel about how she *needs* Vit D and flouride. But he is very nice and was ok with selective vaxing (not thrilled with no vaxing, but didnt give me too much grief.)

For my son, I usually see Dr Brugner and she is nice and competant. My son also sees a neurologist regularly and I dont take him in for minor things, so its rare that I take him in anyway. They were fine with me declining his 4-6yr vaxes, but they might not be so cool with it if I took him in for his 6yr visit.

Dr Kute is ok. I wasnt happy with some of the BFing advice she gave a doula client of mine that I referred to her, but since I was an experienced BFer, I havent gotten any bad advice from her. Certainly she is better than most peds in regards to BFing info. I wish I could find someone closer (I'm in Woodstock, too). But I am just so tired of changing peds. At this point, since my kids are older, they dont see a doc very often.

I use Dr Kute. I was with Dunwoody Peds for 6 years before I switched to Kute. I liked the Dr's there, but I hated the office staff in Alpharetta. Anyway, I think that I remember that Dr. Sherwinter is a kidney specialist or something. I think he's in teh DUnwoody office most days. IME, he's an excellent Dr, pro-breastfeeding (maybe not as into it as Kute, but pretty supportive IME). IF his name pops up on your "kidney" lists, i woudl recomment him. HTH

I've heard Dr. Kute is well worth the drive. Good peds are few and far between, IMO.

I drive from Ball Ground (almost an hour) to see Dr Kute. I have switched so many times in the recent years. I will continue to drive to her as long as my kids are young. It's worth it.
