it really depends on the exposure the basket is going to get. but for a shade/part sun basket:

lysimachia

for some reason I'm drawing a blank on more plants.

For sun:

vining tomatoe plants are cute....little cherry ones.
calibrichoa is one of my favorites.
little sedums or succulents

I would just recommend using at least a few perennials and adding a couple of annual flowers for some color.

I guess i should of been a little more specific in my thoughts... I'm thinking annual plants. There is the wood fence that seperates our property from the neighbor, I have a bed there in the ground that hopefully will get enough sun for zinnia and marigolds, was hoping to use the vertical space by attaching a couple of hangers from the fence and using it for the hanging baskets. .

Now to go check out the plants janasmama suggested. Thank you!
