Our beloved daycare is closing, and since DD is already 2 anyway, we're looking for a good preschool rather than another daycare. I'm having a hard time reading between the lines and figuring out what places are really like on a day-to-day basis, though. Much as I want my daughter to have a solid foundation, I don't want a place that is too rigorously academic at too young of an age. More than anything, I want a loving "home away from home" where she will thrive and feel calm and centered. Is that too much to ask?

So, any recommendations? We live in West Hills and would prefer a place that is secular but inclusive. DH and I are both teachers as well, so we need a place that opens between 7 and 7:30.
