The procedure was difficult at points but mostly wasn't as bad as I thought. Luckily, I didn't bleed as much as I thought I would.

The lady who did it laughed when I told her I was worried about the pain during and after the insertion. I have a labret piercing and she assumed because I had that done, that the IUD insertion would seem like a snap for me. I casually pointed out that the labret was 1 needle and 5 seconds, with a few weeks of healing. Where as the Mirena took 15-20 minutes to get in, and it was necessary to dilate a sensitive part of my body after pinching the opening open and shove something plastic into my body. She looked a bit confused and laughed.

I am recovering at home with minor cramping. Driving back from the appointment was hard because pushing the pedals proved painful as well as any turn I took.

So far the only real issue i have is with the string, which seems intent on itching and poking my vaginal walls when I stand. I hear they should soften in the next day from my body fluids

Anyways, my real reason for posting this is a query as to whether or not I belong here in Family Planning now as I am not charting/NFP and am on hormonal birth control. I hope I can stay if for nothing more than moral support.

Also, I think you would still be more than welcome here in Family Planning. Have you checked out the wanting but waiting thread?
