grapefruit

I'm really not a grapefruit fan. I like the taste ok, but not enough to actually sit down and eat a grapefruit -- much less 6 of them, which is what my produce delivery service just brought me. 6 grapefruit. Any ideas? I don't have a juicer.

hmmmmmm,

they could make pretty x'mas garland or sum-such if you sliced, dried them and strung them. . .add some dried popcorn and cranberries or star anices and beads. . .they smell pretty, too. . .

You can either slice them and just let them dry out for several days on parch. paper out of the way somewhere, or I think you can also turn on the oven very, very low, and let them hang out in there for a few hours on a cookie sheet.

Of course, you could always use them for bowling balls out in the yard or something!

Oh, and make sure if you decide to dry 'em, cut them pretty thin!

You could use the juice in some sort of smoothie. You wouldn't need a juicer...I would just cut them into quarters and squeeze one or two directly into the blender. I'm trying to think of what fruits would do well with grapefruit juice, though...maybe kiwi and banana? berries of some sort?
I was going to say squeeze them into a smoothie, too. Dh hates grapefruit but he actually really likes it when I put them into smoothies. Mine usually have banana and frozen blueberries in them.

ETA: I've squeezed a whole grapefruit into a smoothie before and the taste still isn't overpowering.
I love them sectioned and then tossed with avocado and a pinch of salt. Really good.
omg. i love grapefruit more than anything in the world. youre so lucky!
You could juice them without a juicer...Just cut in half and squeeze away. How do you think us old geezers did it in the olden days. :LOL

Seriously, I had a surplus of them once (not 6, that's a snack here...but a 15 pound bag of them!), juiced them into a shallow pan that I stuck in the freezer. Stir it every 5 minutes or so until it's icy.

Similar to Italian ice (or a slush)...Great treat for summer!
They taste good if you sprinkle a little brown sugar on top and then put them in the oven on broil for a few minutes....just until the sugar melts. I don't remember how long, we sometimes eat that as a treat in the winter.

my mom used to make "slush" for when she was having a party- it was just orange juice mixed with vodka and put in the freezer. the vodka kept it from freezing totally. yum!
