I like the article, but this quote: "People who breast-feed in public show an amazing lack of class and etiquette. Would you urinate in public? It's basically the same thing."
First of all, *shock!!!* Stupid man.
Second of all, I'm not sure I like how this guy defended the quote. He seems to be saying, "yeah, it is classless and lacks etiquette, but when you're a parent, you don't care about that stuff anymore." Maybe it was funny the way he said it, but I disagree with his implication. Breastfeeding is NOTHING like urinating in public. Unless bottle feeding is like urinating in public. What is classless is to allow your baby to scream from hunger because you're afraid of the reactions of people around you. (Not to mention abusive.) I'm sure the guy who thought it was classless would really rather have a screaming baby. What's the next logical step? Keep all mothers and babes inside? Not allow them to be in public? I shudder in horror.
On a slightly related note, I have heard breastfeeding compared to urinating and changing a tampon in public. I'm not sure how either of these things can be compared to breastfeeding? Can somene elighten me as to how someone can make this connection?
