My 13 yo DSD and 10 & 12 yo nephews love board games etc... Great way to get us all together having fun. This year I'm totally out of the loop on what's fun and/or new. What are your/your DC's favorite games to play?

Aples to Apples, The Great Dalmuti, Settlers of Catan, Mississippi Queen, Bohnanza (aka "The Bean Game"), and there's another one but I'm blanking on the name right now... anyway, not typical games but popular with the teens (and everyone else)when we have big parties here every year...

Dar is so right! to Apples to Apples.

WE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE that game.

It is so entertaining, easy to play, and there is just the right amount of competition to make it fun without being stressful. We laugh and laugh and laugh when we play that game. Shew. Lots of fun.

We also like 1313 Dead End Drive, Cranium, and Cathedral. Mancala is quick and fun and cheap and therefore makes a good stocking stuffer.

My favorites right now are Lord of the Rings Risk (several different ways to play) and New England.

But I Apples to Apples!

Just here to second Cranium and Mancala. Both of them are really great! Cranium is just really fun. Mancala is one of those games you can play every day whenever you have a bit of time. My younger brother and I went through a phase where we played it every day for months - he was in high school then.
I like Taboo (try to get your partner to say the word without using a list of five commonly associated words for it).
Glad to hear the rave for Apples to Apples - I just bought that on sale at Target and will put it under the tree (we get a game for the family each year under the tree).
