Just came across this and thought it was worth sharing. Its from the Pinstripes and Polkadots website, and has a HUGE list to compare all sorts of laundering products:

http://www.pinstripesandpolkadots.co...entchoices.htm

"This page is a compilation of information regarding well-known name brand detergents and lesser-known natural detergents. Compare your choices to determine which product would be best for your baby's diapers. "

I wish I had found this list before prewashing all our diapers with 7th generation. After reading about possible build-up with this brand, I've washed the diapers SEVEN TIMES in plain hot water, and I'm still getting sudsy water from left-over detergent. Anyone have suggestions about how to remove build-up from CPF's, Kissaluvs, Fuzzi Bunz, and Swaddlebees?

This says that plain ole tide powder contains perfumes and fragrances... I've been using it successfully for a year and a half of cloth diapering... should I switch?

I just wanted to add that anyone who has hard water or very hard water will have a bigger problem with detergent staying in your clothes and CDs. People with hard water may have to strip the CDs more often than you would if you had soft water.

Have you tried vinegar in the rinse cycle? You can put some in a Downy ball or the softner compartment. It should help get rid of the soap residue.

I'm nervous about using vinegar..... do you think it will make my diapers stink? We have CPF's, Kissaluvs, Fuzzi Bunz and Swaddlebees..... None has been used yet - baby is still in my belly and due any day now....

No. If it works for you - why change it ?
