DD has had green mucousy poop since the day before yesterday. Should I wait to see if it is a passing virus or go to the doctor asap?

Probably not a virus. It is more than likely a foremilk hindmilk imbalance. If she gets more foremilk, the more watery milk, then her stools will be green, mucousy, and might smell a little worse than usual. Try nursing on one breast per feeding. It should resolve itself before too long.

DS's poops were green and mucousy when I was consuming dairy and soy. I stopped ALL dairy and soy and his poops went normal. I knew that's what it was because when I would trial dairy, within a day his poops would be mucousy again. I believe I also had OAL which caused part of the problem. You might try cross posting in the breastfeeding forum.

If it were just green, I'd ask if you've been eating any greens or berries (blueberries = very green poop), but with the mucousy thing, I'd vote it's a sensitivity to something in your diet, like babygrant said.

My dd always had green and mucousy stools. Never really figured out 100% what is was. I think a combination of things. Mainly the foremilk/hindmilk imbalance. Food sensit. and may-be her reflux?

I just went to the doctor yesterday because of mucousy poop. My doc said that he had "rotovirus". But my ds has had diarrhea and an upset tummy for a while now. A nurse also told me eariler this week that mucus in the poop is a sign of a bacterial infection.

But I am not a doctor and I don't play one on TV. But this is what I was told by those who call themselves doctors.

You just know from the title its gonna be nasal or poo....

Abigail has had a few bouts like this. Some yesterday and I decided to take her back off yougurt and no green poo (yet) today. I'd try the dairy-free thing and see if it helps. My LLL leader said to make sure she was nursing for a good session on each breast and not just switching sides at 15-20 min.
