Anyone opt not to take the GTT? I've heard so many negative things about this test and am considering opt-ing out but my midwife is nervous about this. She's willing to discuss alternatives but doesn't know of any. Can anyone direct me of a better way of testing or monitoring for GD?

I appreciate it. I'm approaching 28 weeks and I'm sure she's gonna bring it up at my next appt next week.

I declined the GTT this time and last time. Instead I used a glucometer and tested my blood sugar in the morning and one hour after eating breakfast. I did this for 5 days and reported the numbers back to my MW. We both got what we wanted and I felt more in control.

Hi Wendy! I hope you find what you are looking for here!

Thanks for asking this, as I've been wondering about this as well and have plans to discuss it with my midwife at my 19 week appointment.
