Go to <a href="http://www.contractionmaster.com/" target="_blank">Contraction Master</a> and time your contractions for a while! If you're like me, they'll go away after 5-10 contractions! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile">

I totally believe that. Our minds can do very powerful things. Maybe next time have someone else sit at the computer for you.

Too true! Or even just thinking "Hey this could be it!" does it for me. Even after 12 hours of contractions. I'm only a little bitter about it <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/irked.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="irked">:

Or you could get your family visiting from out of state all excited (even though you are figuring the contractions are probably not IT ...) and talking about names and getting directions to the hospital - then go to bed! The contractions will stop! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/irked.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="irked">: (Yeah, that's what happened here Saturday night - on my daughter's birthday)
