DS is losing the hair on one side of his head, and I finally figured out it's from being in the sling! That's the side he rests on when we do a cradle hold or nurse. I'm using a 100% cotton sling now, and it's pretty soft. What might be a good fabric that's a little more slippery to keep from rubbing so much on his head? Should I get a new sling, or just put something under his head when he's lying down?

Honestly? Don't worry about it. My DS has a bald patch on the back of his head too. Most newborns have some hair loss, and it will happen from the way they sleep generally. It'll grow back.

I know it's silly, and I shouldn't worry about it. I just figure if I can prevent the hair from rubbing off then I would like to try. It's ONLY rubbing off on the side of his head that lays in the sling. He usually sleeps on his other side in the bed, and that side of his head is full of long dark hair. The side that rubs in the sling is sparse and even bare in spots. Looks a little funky kwim?

I'll try not to let it bug me, but I may put his little satin lovey under his head when he nurses in the sling sometimes.

I don't think changing the fabric or putting something else in there is going to make a difference in the hair loss -- there will still be friction, no matter what you do about it. Can you try getting his head a little more out of the sling, or switching sides so that at least it's even?

I'm not bald yet but sometimes feel like dd is thinking "giddyup horsie" as she pulls and plays with my hair.
