My 18 month old is obsessed with long hair on EVERYONE... me, our family members, our dog, random people on the bus, random people on the metro, children in our playgroups, children in his nursery at church. The problem is getting increasingly worse. We're not talking about a gentle tug or two here.... we're talking all ten fingers tightly tangled in the hair and pulling fiercely with all of the 25 pounds he has. We are trying to teach him "easy" his equivilant of "gentle touches" which is fine for people we know but just doesn't cut it for the random strangers. A few weeks ago, he was out with dh and my father-in-law in the backpack when my father-in-law looked around to find a woman bent over backwards in the grasp of my son's two fist-fulls of hair. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/jaw.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="dropjaw"> I just don' t know what to do to help him break this really, really bad habit! Help!!

I need help with a similar situation. My 15mo dd will pull MY HAIR OUT either in a moment of frustration on anger or during normal play. Oh I cant stand it, it hurts so much. I dont punish her and she is to young to talk with about it but she does not seem to notice that I scream in pain on say ouch! That hurts mommy. It happened today and it was the worst yet. I screamed and she screamed with me then I bolted to the bathroom to recover. Please Please any hair pulling advice?
