Hi All,

I am getting ready for my second homebirth and this time I want to have a set of hand signals and a list of some simple things that I want to be able to communicate to DH, midwife, etc.

Last time I, totally unexpectdly, became totally incapable of verbal communication, so there were a lot of things that I wished I could say but couldn't. I hope to work around that this time.

Does anyone have a list of things that they have prepared beforehand that they can share with me. Ideally it would be able to be put on cards or a chart so I can just pull the card or point to the chart. Ditto with hand signals. Simple ones that people would understand.

thanks!!

I did something similar and am going to just put it in plastic sleeves and leave them around the house for when I'm laboring, but I'm doing Hypnobabies and most of my stuff relates directly to that.

But, I do have some simple things like "when I get into the tub, please make sure someone puts the towels, baby items, and receiving blankets into the dryer" and "When I start pushing, have someone bring the contents of the dryer into the room where baby will be born".

Is that the kinds of thing you mean?

DH I have been studying ASL so we can sign with the baby,

If you make a "duck" with both your hands and tap them together, that means more.

If you touch your middle finger to your thumb repeatedly, that means no. If I was non vocal I feel confident that I could sign basic things to my DH. We also know Mom, dad, dogs, milk,

heres a link.

and learn your letters to spell out words.
