My washer is broken. I'm going on a five hour drive to spend a long weekend at my parent's house. I plan on taking my cloth with me, so they needed washing.

Step 1- Fill bathtub with cold water, add baking soda and diapers. Rinse, swishing and squeezing and scruffing up the diapers in the cold water. Drain water and squeeze excess out of diapers.

Step 2- Fill bathdub with HOT water, a little detergent, and a little TTO. Scrub those babies like a mad woman! Drain tub and squeeze water out.

Step 3- Fill tub with cold water and rinse well. Drain and wring diapers dry-ish.

I'm about to throw them in the dryer. We will see if it was a success!

I hand washed our FB's and inserts on our trip last week. Worked out well. Fortunately, we were in a motel, so I could stick them in front of a fan to dry (otherwise the inserts would have taken forever to dry out). Made me feel good to be able to do that for ds. Dedication or insanity? Not sure which... LOL

I'm going to be handwashing DDs dipes on our week long camping trip in August. I'm going to use disposable diaper liners so that I can toss the poop, and have less "debris" to deal with.

This should be interesting.

I did that too and you know it was actually kinda rewarding and made me feel so good. I kinda liked it. My hands got numb with all the wringing out I did, but all in all I thought it was kinda fun!

I always thought that if I needed to hand wash the diapers I'd buy a new toilet plunger and a tall bucket (or maybe just a clean trash can) and use the plunger to beat the heck out of the diapers (with soap and water in the bucket of course). Then I'd just drain the dirty water and keep filling (and plunging) until the water runs clear. I just couldn't lean over a tub or have my eczema hands in soapy water like that!

Well done on your hand washing momma
