How did you celebrate the father(s) in your life today? I'd love to know!

We kept it simple here, but had a wonderful day. I made one of my husband's favorite meals, and we invited my brother over. We just hung out and ate at the house. We had a great time, and DH is so happy- that's what I care about!

We celebrated last night because dh left for Omaha today, for a job interview! Interview is tomorrow morning, keep your fingers crossed!

We went out to dinner with the kids and the kids gave him this book, and he is buying himself a new battery for his drill. Whatever floats his boat!

This morning before he left for the airport, he and the kids made paper airplanes from the book's description.

As of last night I had no clue what we were doing. Today, I asked my boys waht they wanted to do for Daddy (again), and Gabriel finally offered that we should take him to Benihana (a favorite of all of ours). So we decided on that, and I came up with a gift idea that I could take care of later.

The boys made cards for DH at church and he really liked them. Our 5yo even wrote a sentence on his own in it, and it was very sweet! The 2yo's was decorated with stickers. DH seemed to treasure those more than most of the time!

So after church we decided to go out for lunch, made a late lunch reservation, came home and had some watermelon before we all starved to death!
Then we drove DH circuitously to the restaurant, which he was pleased with. Had a yummy lunch (though Iain refused to eat pretty much everything, even though he always loves it! very tired!) and DH splurged on the best steak in the house.

Then we came home to take the little one potty, but I needed to pick up a gift for my stepdad. DH said he was interested in going to this bookstore to browse around, so I let him go get the gift and pick out his own gift.
He came home with some books he's happy with, and later we had my stepdad over to hang out and gave him his gift.

DH says he's had a nice day! So that was good. And Gabriel's already talking about them making plans for NEXT mother's day!

Poor DH. He hardly had a nice day. He spent alot of it mowing/trimming the lawn and then loading up the grill and taking it to the park where we had arranged for a picnic pavillion for DHs family party. Then he cooked all the meat. Hardly rested at all. But we did have a nice time, and having the party at the park sure beat having it at DHs parents house. Very small and crowded when we are all there.

We cooked him some breakfast, and I had some presents for him, a money clip and a manly teacup and some tea and a book.
For lunch he requested his favorite pizza joint for sausage and anchovie pizza (yum). Then in the afternoon he had a long nap. It was a good day.

ETA: and Evelyn told him "Happy Fadder's Day" several times. It was adorable.

We drove down to my FIL and FIL BBQ for all. DH gave his father a little something, but that was it. We do not celebrate these types of holidays much. However, in the car, I said to him: Happy Father's Day! and he loved that (this being our first child and all that).
