after that, no more dryer usage is necessary.

the instructions say to, but i've never had leaking with not doing it. in fact, i was so excited to put a new one on ds i stuffed it and put it on him without even washing it first. when i took it off him later it was SOAKED inside but no leaks at all!

I usually do. However, I have used one before without doing that first and it worked just fine.
