My mom has always gone to see Jerry Woodward & Associates in Harrisburg. He is a personal friend of the family. Jerry is older and only does gyn care now, but he is a good person and I know that he has some midwives on staff. I attended a training through Pinnacle Health in the spring and one of the midwives from the practice was a speaker for a portion of the day. What she said made sense and I heard several people talking about what a caring midwife she was. (no personal experience here, just an impression)
Several years ago (like almost 20), before Jerry had his own practice, he was my cousin's ob. She was having baby #4 and they had no money. He agreed to do the birth out of hospital for them. If I remember correctly, it caused dissension in the practice. In the end, they didn't do it out of hospital b/c the baby was born early and needed NICU care.
