DH is a pilot and we're supposed to take a 2 hour flight in a small plane w/DD in 3 weeks (she'll be just over 4 mos.). We have an infant headset, so ears should be ok, but what about sickness, pressure, etc.? Anyone have any experience with this? I was planning to nurse her on takeoff and landing, but DH said those are statistically the most dangerous times so she should be in her carseat.

Asked our ped and she had no clue.

TIA!

hmm no ideas just a suggestion.. if it were me... I would put the headphones on for 5-10 minutes everyday to get her used to feeling them on her head... I would put her in the carseat and let her suck on your finger..that always calms my daughter if I cant nurse her (just turned 4 months)

My father owned 2 small planes and I flew all the time since I was a month old. They never did anything special, but then again it was the 70's . I had a paci, and when I was old enough I chewed gum. That's about it! My father would always be careful to ascend and descend slowly if I had a cold.

I took my DD on a very small plane in Alaska (8 seats total) when she was 4 months old. There was no way her carseat would fit on it so I wore her in the Moby wrap. She slept the whole time... I never noticed any discomfort on her part, even though my ears popped like crazy. It was about an hour flight.

I fly all the time w/ my babes since the time they were 1st born. If you are nursing then nurse her on takeoff and landing or make sure you have a paci. I just held my babes on my lap throughout the flights. My dd now sits in her carseat and I hold ds2 on my lap and nurse him Have fun!!
