For awhile I was using HE and low sudsing soap and I was happy that I was not battling so many suds. Well, for the first time we got stinky build-up! At first I was perplexed but then it dawned on me that residue was still sticking around although i could not see it because the suds (what little there were) rinsed away so easily. I don't know if this has happened to anyone else but i thought it was definitely worth mentioning for anyone wondering why they have stink and no bubbles.

Every time I do laundry I vow to come upstairs and post the same question, then I get distracted and forget! :LOL I was thinking that since suds are the sign of build up and HE detergents are low sudsing, it was possible to get build up without suds. But now the question is, how do you know when the build up is gone?!

I don;t like the HE soap, either. I just use a few DROPS of Dawn on my dipes (and Downy Advance) and don't have stink issues anymore. I ocassionally use Bio-Kleen oxy powder stuff and the anti-stink enzyme stuff, but not regularly. I also use the rinse cycle a lot

Dawn is the only thing I have found that works for no stink and no build up. I use probably a helf a teaspoon or less and every once in a while do a cold wash with bac-out before the hot wash (I usually only wash on hot b/c I don't have poopies)

I use bi-o-kleen powder. I stoped useing baking soda and vinagur and the stink went away.

The washer repair guy did get onto me about not using HE detergent til I pointed out that the box said for front loaders. Stupid washer. I NEVER h ave a repair guy out for any of my other washer but have had them out 5 TIMES in 6 months for my new duet.

Anyway I dont notice build up but I dont really use HE detergent and I also rinse a lot!

This is for a front-loader, right? Can you share your whole wash routine with me?

I haven't had any stink issues yet, but I've only been cloth diapering for a few weeks, so I want a backup plan if this stops working. Also, washing with Dawn must be CHEAP!! I'm allllllllllllllllllll about cheap.

We have a calypso and I love it. I do use HE soap, made by Sears. Its cheap, works well and does rinse clean. When I switched to Tide HE, we got stink on our hemp. I washed them several times in the machine with NO soap, and then sunned them to death on our bushes. NO more stink. We have only battled it once, but it was over 90 diapers/prefolds so it was a horrid thing to deal with. We went back to the Sears HE saop and Im lovin it.
