Has ANYONE from here given birth yet?

1400 Views 38 Replies 21 Participants Last post by  mesecina
I was just reading the 'I've hit 37 weeks!' thread and realising that some of us are getting close to our due dates. Has anyone here given birth and I've missed it?

If not, that is quite something. On my mainstream site quite a few of the July ladies have produced their sprogs by now.

I haven't seen anything yet, and haven't been paying close attention to whether anyone's been missing or not....anyone missing from our gang?
I havent seen anything yet either - though I was looking at the EDD list sticky (while I updated it) and realized that there are a TON of mamas who listed their due dates that never post here - there seem to be a small group of us regulars who are always here - like under 15 or so of us. I dont know what happened to all the others! Maybe they are lurking?
I'm due July 9th, but having my csection June 24th.

On one of the mainstream sites I'm on, someone who is only 34 weeks along made the comment along the lines of "I wish my doctor would induce me now, that would so rock". The reason was mainly just her being sick of being pregnant.

I wanted to throttle her so bad. Nobody should be wishing for a baby that preemie. I'm so tired of seeing the "Oh, I'm fed up of pregnancy, get it out of me" attitude on mainstream sites, from people who stressed out over whether they could have 3 tylenol in 2 days and eat deli meat, yet who all of a sudden throw all of that supposed care for their baby out of the window in favour of risky procedures when it's no longer convenient for them to be pregnant anymore.

Well, I can raise you one. On my board someone has actually convinced their OB to induce them at 34 weeks (even though the doc said it would guarantee an NICU stay). Yes there is more to the story but not that much more.

What the hell kind of OB says yes to such a thing? Sheesh!

Then again, what the hell kind of mother wants to have their kid in the NICU? A few extra weeks in utero can make so much difference, it's insane to jeopardise the health of your child that way.

I'm disgusted by that.

Well, I'm still here, and have a feeling I'm in it for the long run!! altho I've lost a little TMI!!!!! mucous plug and am starting to have some real sharp pelvic pains here and there so I think the baby's moving downwards and onwards! then again I could always end up like a waitress I had a couple weeks ago who said "I was due July 5th once too. The baby was born on July 23!!" lol. I'd be ok with that if that's healthiest for the babe! but lets hope what's healthiest is closer to the beginning of July than the end...
Okay, so said 34 weeker.... has a clotting disorder of somesort and lost a previous baby at 38 weeks. She is really worried about losing this baby. I don't think the clotting thing and loss were related though. Anyhow, because she is stressed worrying about the baby, her doctor agreed to induce at 34 weeks. Okay, now, I do understand that losing a child late in pregnancy like that would be horrific, and I would definitely worry too in a subsequent pg. But, KNOWING that at 34 weeks your baby is guaranteed a NICU stay, v/s what could possible but probably won't happen (ie. I could die in the car tomorrow but honestly, I will probably still travel somewhere in my car) is amazing to me. And why 34 weeks?? I mean, why not 36 weeks at the very least? I told my mom and she was floored that the insurance company was going along with this plan....

With the uncertainty, really, of exact ovulation and conception dates and cycle times, who knows what the "real" date is supposed to be

I'll stick with the method of letting the baby bake until golden brown, rather than sticking to the strict 40 week timer, though I can certainly understand that waiting is the hardest in the final stretch, especially with all the discomfort.

Officially I'm due on July 11th, but I'm really ready for anything between next week (37) and 2 weeks after the 11th.

I'm still here!

Truth be told, I starting to get impatient. After weeks of worrying about what if the twins come too early, and hearing how most twins come between 34 and 37 weeks, I am now 36 weeks along and starting to worry "what if they don't come until my due date!!!" I am soooo big, so uncomfortable, have instense but irregular contractions round the clock, can't sleep (it's 4;30 a.m. right now and I've been awake 2 hours), hurt in places I didn't think could hurt, have constant heartburn, the works.

My head knows that the longer these babes cook, the better, and that I am fortunate that they are still cooking (credit to good nutrition and rest, too, I think). But I am REALLY getting ready to meet these girls.
I will say this though, of all of the babies born on my mainstream board, only one has not stayed/is still in the NICU. It is sad really.

Yep I know. But I had a few betas done in early pg as low as 56 plus a couple early ultrasounds (b/c of previous losses), and so I'm very sure of dates- and while I totally don't stick to the 40 week rule, I know for a fact the baby will be full term at the beginning of July so it'd be a tad frustrating to have to wait until the end, though I certainly would because I do NOT want to induce

No uncertainty here. I know exactly when I conceived, seeing that I am a dedicated 'charter' of cm and temperatures. Heck, when you only ovulate 3 times a year, what choice do you have?

Besides, my dh was gone almost the entire month of October, so our chances of conception were limited to ONE opportunity
.

My ds made an appearance exactly 38 weeks after ovulation. But who knows what this one is going to do?

Wow. Is it a twins board?
Well, 37 weeks and still holding on. Lots of BH that just won't regulate, started dialating last week, cervix is thinning, but hey - baby still isn't ready. My OB doesn't induce unless absolutely neccessary, and won't induce a GD patient....so I'm ready to go the distance. TMI following - asked dh this morning for sex, figured maybe that would help things along. Very funny...got some good laughs & ya know, it was totally worth it LOL! No kids today

That is so awesome that you've made it this long!!!
I know someone who had triplets at 38 weeks, and they all were over 6 pounds! They were the first triplets that hospital had who didn't have to stay in NICU, but she was HUGE and on partial bed rest!

What she said, just change 36 weeks to 35 1/2

Well, I was more referring to the fact that the average poster on a mainstream board, or even most people really, aren't that meticulous or knowlegeable about the various things regarding their cycle/conception. A lot of the time it's an educated guess.
