Ok so this drama ( I am obsessed with taking HPTs this month ) started 3 days ago in the evening.. I took a test it came up extremely light positive, took another in the morning and it was still very light but you could see it without squinting .. I then tried a digital test because I just wanted to see the word pregnant, you know? and it was a clear blue digital test, It came up negative.. ( the other ones I used were generic one step midstream tests from inverness ) So I used one more generic that afternoon and it was also negative.. So I was like.. Okay.. So I tested again the NEXT morning with same generic brand,
took two tests ( I know, I know ) and one came up darker then the one the morning before, still faint but positive, easy to see and very blue as were the other positives so I know it was not an evaporation line ( I also read them within the 10 minute time ) . and the 2nd test that morning, same brand, I also got a blue positive line, but it was much thinner and lighter then the first I had taken that morning.. both were taken with FMU, . SO I was like yeah!!! I figured when I tested the next morning ( today ) I could get a really nice dark one by then , to take pictures of and send the pics to daddy... but ......
I tested again this morning.. I even held my pee for an hour and a half ( don't laugh at me after I woke up so I could get the full 8 hours .. This time I had an EPT brand test and a value pack of the generics,
( just the way they are sold ), I'm not THAT crazy...
and now keep in mind all of these were done with this morning's FMU ( We are in Japan , hence the time difference ).. The first generic was defective, as in there was no control line but a very extremely faint positive came up.. in the light.. but it was blue ..... the 2nd , which was the EPT : looked negative, except for the tiny est of faint start of a blue line( I started to see it within the time limit ) , So I took it apart and was able to see a very light but definate blue line.
Since the first generic was defective I said what the heck and took another ( I peed for like 2 and a half straight minutes and examined the tests when I was done .. all except for the first generic ) This one came up positive, with a blue line that was lighter then the positive I got the morning before with FMU but in stead of a thin slightly darker line then today, it was a thicker, lighter blue line, darker in some parts of the line then in other parts.. So, I guess I have a few questions :
1) Is it normal to keep getting very faint ( but wider ) lines very early in pregnancy,Should I be worried that they have not really gotten any darker in the last 2.5 days ?
If I am pregnant I would only be like 11 or 12 days along... as I am pretty sure I O'd on the 5/6th of this month. and the last time we baby danced was on the 6th .
2) is it a bad thing that the lines I got this morning were a little tiny bit lighter then yesterdays, even though they were thicker then the past two days ?
Could I still be pregnant ? This brings the total of light positives to 6 , all taken with FMU over the last 3 mornings except for the one i took that first evening, and 5 or 6 negs all taken in the afternoon/evening.. What do you all think ??!!
Again I am sorry for all for the details.. I know it is a bit much, so please bear with me.. almost all of you have been really kind and polite with your answers and advice.. but as we all know there is always that one... It's just that I am far away from home and being new here I don't really have anyone I can ask this kind of advice to.. So just to let you know the people on here who have answered have really helped me .. thanks in advance for all of your answers !!!!

Take a deep breath and relax! You are still so early on that, no, after 2 days they aren't necessarily going to get darker... even if it's a perfectly healthy pregnancy.

Stop peeing on sticks for a few days, then try again.

Honey, it's rare to get a false positive. You've gotten several positives, right?
I think congratulations are in order.
Stop obsessing about the tests! If you want to be sure go to your midwife/doc, but I'll say it's safe to assume that you're pregnant.

a couple of things too.... I have read somewhere that the tests with blue dyes are not reliable. They have been known to be defective and give false positives. Second, its not the thickness of the line its the color intensity. I agree that wait a day or so and test again. If you want to know for sure do a blood test. good luck.

I'd say you are pregnant and as the other poster said STOP PEEING ON THE STICKS for a few days!

It may take several days for a test to show up any darker than the one before HCG doubles every 48 approx. so you can't expect much of a difference in color over 3 days time. Wait a week and try again or go see a midwife or doctor. But yeah I'd say

I totally understand your constant testing, as this sounds exactly like me.

To be honest, I've had false positives with blue-dyed tests. But I've peed on so many tests, that I've had wacky results with just about every test.

Resist the urge to tear tests apart or to hold them in different types of light. If you look hard enough, you'll start seeing lines everywhere. Try to just relax today and distract yourself. I won't tell you to wait a few days before testing, because I know that will feel impossible - but try to wait until tomorrow morning. Can you get your hands on an FRER?

EPTs are good tests, IMHO btw....

My first ever BFP was on a Thursday night after work. Then the next morning I did the same brand with FMU, both FRE, and the line was lighter. It's easy to obsess, I did that a lot! lol Anyway, wanted to say that baby is going to be 5 years old in June! so try not to worry and test again in a day or two. Light or not, call your doc and get a BT. Sounds like a BFP to me! Congrats!!
