I ask because this little one is soooo active...OMG, it never fails, as soon as I lay down to sleep at night, or any time of day for that matter, he starts kicking up a storm....
:

Don't get me wrong, I love it, but I am literally going on three days without sleep because no matter what position I lie in, he kicks... and kicks.... and kicks, until I finally just get up....
: I am soooo exhausted and have to work a full time job. I feel like the past two days I've been running on auto-pilot.

Any advice on how to get an overactive baby to settle a bit????

The baby doesn't keep me awake, but s/he keeps DH awake.

I don't know what to tell you except that it probably isn't just the baby keeping you awake. I don't sleep very deeply because I can't get super comfortable. The bigger you get, the less comfortable you are.

My doula told us before ds was born that I would sleep much better after the birth even though I would be getting up every two hours to take care of a baby...and she was exactly right!

I would be careful about what I ate before bed and even during the daytime. Their little bodies don't process caffeine like ours so your baby may be more active due to that. Don't eat any sugar in the evening as that can make them more active as well. I mean, they tell mothers who are worried about how much movement they're feeling to drink a glass of orange juice and sit down for 30 minutes and you'll feel baby move...just because of the lack of motion and the sugar in the orange juice. So while you aren't going to be in perpetual motion while you sleep, you can control what you eat.

I remember saying a long time ago here that I was one of the strange ones who wasn't super anxious for kicking to start...I don't like it and it does keep me way awake and make me really hurt. I'm happy to know my babe is fine but that doesn't make it any less physically painful for me when it is kicking around in there.

The thing I'm finding seriously amusing these days is how much this baby is kicking me in the cervix. At least, that's what I think I'm feeling. It's like the little thing is determined to make its way out into the world already. Not time yet! It just feels like I'm getting very lightly thumped in the vagina ALL THE TIME. Totally weird.

OMG....
Makes me feel guilty about complaining at all!!! LOL. Poor you!

Pageta: Sounds like good advice, thank you! I have been more aware of cutting out things with caffeine in them... I do still have my ONE morning cup of coffee but that's it. I guess I didn't really think about sugary stuff, but it makes total sense. I'm bad about "middle of the night" cravings for a bowl of cereal......

Herausgeber: That's pretty much how I'm feeling. Little One kicks all day AND all night. At least I know he's okay in there. Maybe I should mail back the fetal monitor.... that's when he'd stop all the kicking and I'd be worried sick...

But now when i sit down at the comp they feel really low and are kicking my pelvic bone and spine... lil buggars

Actually, I am just glad that I am feeling movement now. I didn't really feel anything until about 2 weeks ago (I'm about 26 weeks now) most likely due to an anterior placenta buffering the feelings of movement. The only time I really feel anything is shortly after I lay down at night but I'm usually so exhausted I can sleep through them for now.

My little guy is always kicking. At first it would keep me up. He always seems to start a major kick fest at 1-2 in the morning. But now I'm just getting used to it.

Yep, it's either kicking, I'm uncomfortable, hot, or hungry. The kicks actually don't bother me as much as the full body rolls this one does all the time. Most nights I'm up for a while, I use it for catching up on e-mail and etc...
That's ok, I know when this babe is born, I'll be sleeping like the living dead, well for an hour or two anyway.

add me to the insomniac's club

I'm usually up every night from about 3 - 5 am...it's not the babe waking me, but I just can't seem to get comfortable any more; if it's not my back it's my hips or my shoulders...oh well, this is good practice for those middle of the night nursing sessions that I'm hoping for!
