Hats

I need a good sun hat for ds. The only ones I can find around here are the bucket-type, which barely keeps the sun off his forhead. What hat do you love for your toddler? And where can I find them? I've tried the local children's clothings stores as well as places like Target and I can't find anything with a wide brim or a piece of fabric in back. We're vacationing in the Caribbean next month and I'm starting to get desperate!

Thanks!

Hmm, bucket hats don't work for you? We use the Old Navy bucket hats and they work great on my DS.
We have some gymbo bucket hats and they work great. The ones dd wears are actually for children aged 3-4 though. :LOL They are big on her head but they work really well.

Also, what about a mullet cap? You know that baseball hats with a mudflap in back?

Flap happy makes some good ones. Cotton n' Company carries them, and I think the Nurture center might as well. HTH
Yeah, the mullet hats are great. Dd would onlywear teh thrift store scored blue one, and now that it's disappeared into daycare balck hole, she won't wear any...but yeah, if your kid'll wear em, I recomend the mullet hats. I think I've heard them called "safari" hats, too.
safari sounds much nicer.

Sadie, we made an unexpected trip to the City yesterday for the protests. We need to come back to get some more shoes in Chinatown, shall we meet up?
I just checked ours--it's by Columbia. Has a sun protection factor of 30. I got it at REI and it's khaki colored and has a little draw string in back so it'll fit most toddler heads.

He actually leaves it on which is awesome. Keeps me from putting on so much sunscreen and keeps the bugs away, too.

We love the flaphappys- the brims are HUGE & really keep the sun of DD's face & neck! she's ghostly pale (to the point where last year, people on the street made comments- nice, huh?) & we live at the beach (great combo here at the "irish riviera") so we're always searching for good hats!
Thanks for the suggestions, mamas. Guess I just need to look a bit harder - I didn't even think of trying REI, but it looks llike they have a pretty good selection.

we should. I'm working today and tomorrow and Saturday, well, it's busy, but on Sunday our daycare coop is having a yard sale, that could be a fun time to stop by, pm me if ya wanna

Otherwise let's try for some weekend sometime; plus starting next week I have long term car loan so maybe I'll come over to an east bay play group...
