throw away a poopy diaper? My ds is making a big stinky mess now that he's eating some solid foods and he's resisting using his potty right now. So sometimes I'm tempted to take that cpf and throw it right in the trash b/c I can't figure out how to clean it off w/o grossing me out before putting it in the wash. I've been wiping it off with some toilet paper, but that's pretty disgusting. I have one of those sprayer thingys, but I can't stand the thought of spraying poop all over the bathroom. What do you do?

We just use a cloth wipe and wipe what we can into the toilet. I have not been tempted to throw a diaper away. But I have been tempted to hold my breath when changing some of the really stinky ones. :LOL

I throw the dipe in the toilet and let it soak for awhile. Then when I'm about to do the diaper wash, get my hands dirty all at once and dunk, dunk, swoosh, swoosh. :LOL

I have been tempted to throw one out. I did throw out a fleece liner once.
I scrape mine off w/ tp. It comes off real easy when I use fleece liners, doesn't stick so much.

Yeah. I babysit a baby, and her mother doesn't send diapers. She figures that since she is in sposies, she can wait until her mom picks her up (actually told me that, and that she only changes her twice a day). Ick. So, I change her right away and put her in cloth. Wellllllll, once she did a poop that was so incredibly stinky that my whole house stunk even after spraying it off, and spraying it with dish soap too. This was some serious stink. I don't know what this baby eats, but it smells dead and rotting.

Anyway.... I wanted so bad to throw away my diaper at that point. I had to wash it a couple of times just to convince myself that it didn't stink.

Yeah.... it crossed my mind to throw it away. It crossed my mind and I struggled with it. SCary, but true. ... and I don't throw things away.

Yes, it's crossed my mind! But I have to admit, I love the smell of ds' poop! :

Ugh, my first ds was still using dipes when he was 3, those poops were awful. I can remember throwing away more than one bumkin aio, I know, I suck! lol I was pregnant with #3 and just couldn't deal! Often my dh would come home and find a poopy dipe in the toilet from hours before! You do what you have to do!

Oh, Im SO glad I'm not the odd one out, noone ever admits that on here, lol.

When my oldest boy was a baby (nine years ago next week, gasp), we had a stash of terry flats and plastic pants. I've never thrown a diaper away that I've changed at home, just tipped it into the toilet, or if its a squishy one its no drama to me to put on the rubber gloves and scrub it at the laundry sink, we even have the "poo spoon" a big plastic spoon for mushing the chunky bits down the plug hole.

But ones he'd done when out? Oh, man, some of those were terrible. Big stinky boy poos, not dainty little nuggets like Eliza produces. I started out with 36 flats, by the time I stopped cloth diapering him a year later, we had 15 left, so that should tell you something.

Terry flats are a dime a dozen which is why I wouldnt hesitate to throw one away, without even opening the plastic bag. But lovely pockets or fitteds? No Way, those are a $25 investment for me.

I have not thrown out a cloth diaper.

But I used to buy underwear for My oldest from the thrift store so I didn't have to feel so bad when I tossed those. He had serious problems with withholding BMs when he was about three and being pregnant at the time I just couldn't deal with that 5 times a day:puke .

I figured I was spending about 20.00 a month on the "disposable" underwear : At the time I justified it as being cheaper and more environmentaly friendly than using pullups. I used disposable liners in his undies and that helped at times but not always.

I have thrown away vinyl training pants and regular underwear that were soiled but so far, no CDs. I"m using FB and have a minishower so have never been tempted to do so.

I haven't been tempted to throw one away (but we only use fitteds and wool so it would be too painful investement wise if I was using flats I might consider it!) I've done the dipe soaking in a toilet for hours thing though.... and DH always does that when he's watching DS - that is the times I can get him to use cloth and not sposies he'll stick any stinky dipe in the toilet to soak until I can take care of it.

I HAVE!! LOL!!! :LOL

OMG, it was SOOOO bad!! the *entire* diaper was FILLED with poop. there wasn't an inch to be found inside that thing that didn't have poop on it. there was no way i could empty it into the toilet or scrape it.

dh was standing behind me as i was changing ds that time and i was like "OMG, what do i do with it???????". he (who has probably changed ds's diaper a total of 5x in his life) had a mortified look on his face. LOL. i was afraid to let him see me throw the dipe in the garbage for fear that he'd start throwing away all my dipes when they were "too bad" to wash. :

:LOL :LOL YES~ once, and only once. I was sooo tempted, but I resisted the urge.

Alex had a HUGE, nasty poo while my sister was watching him, she was so grossed out by the diaper that she just rolled it up in a ball (poo everywhere) in a plastic bag and left it on the back porch. It baked in the sun all day long. When I got home, I thought I might gag from the smell, not to mention is was all hot and sticky and humid from sitting in the sun in the baggie! Ugh.

I did manage to wash it, but I had to take the hose to it first outside. :LOL

Related subject . . . we use cpfs and bummis super whisper wraps. I love those covers for keeping it all in, but it drives me crazy that the tabs fall in and ALWAYS stick right into the poop. So even though it didn't get dirty when he pooped, I have to clean the cover anyway b/c I can't keep those tabs out of the mess.

Yes... and I have before! : We had some really bad PFs... worse than Gerber, if you can imagine! And, I didn't have a mini-shower. One day Jude poo'd messily. I just didn't have the heart to dunk and swirl so... I marched it out to the trash can and didn't look back! :

I have to say no. I just wait for DH to change it... I usually don't have any issues with the smell. I 've only got one in dipes (finally) and, well, being 8 months old helps.

No, but I only use fitteds, so that would be a chunk of change in the trash If I used prefolds, heck yeah, I'd throw the really toxic ones away.
