I just saw a commercial for some cell phone company and the punchline was at the end was that such-and-such type of plan is so affordable that "mom will be able to quick her second job!". And it shows a woman walking through the house on her way to work... dressed as a taco.

It reminded me of the week that a Dunkin' Donuts was built near my office and some poor soul had to stand out in the summer sun dressed as a cup of coffee.

Have you ever been a taco, hotdog, Uncle Sam, etc?

I was paid to be Snoopy before

I had a friend in high school whose mom ran a business involving characters. She has quite a few of her kid's friends dress up at one point or another.

No, but I WANTED to! I worked at a hotdog place and I tried to convince the owner that we needed to get a hotdog suit so I could stand outside in it!

Not me but I had a boyfriend in high school who was the Pilsbury Dough Boy for a summer. He got so sick of being poked in the stomach.

I worked as a Health Educator at a children's museum so I dressed up a lot! They weren't really odd costumes or anything, but it was fun. My favorite costume was the beekeeper...the kids loved it too!

I was a Cardinal mascot in high school for a year. At 5', I was the shortest Cardinal anyone had ever seen.

At 5'2" the crotch of the Huskie suit sagged to my knees but darnit I was a cute little wrinkly huskie! The fans loved it because they could literally pick up the huskie up and toss me around - fun, huh?

YES--if a nursing bra counts as a weird costume. (Which I think it does. It still gives me the heebie-jeebies to see myself in the mirror when the cups are undone . Looks like some kinds of weird S&M costume.)

I used to work at a renaissance faire, with a large straw hat with a big green (cloth) frog on it. On top of a normal peasant-y renny costume.

I teach children's dance, music, and theater classes. I dress in costume for my classes about one week a month. We currently have in our costume closet (yes, we have an entire closet devoted to costumes):

cowboy/girl
pirate costumes (multiple permutations)
a tutu (in MY size)
a dinosaur (dd's size)
clown
circus ringmaster
Settler (late 1880's)
Victorian woman
several Renaissance faire costumes
flapper (1920's)
wizzard
Janis Joplin style rock star
and probably several others that I can't think of right now.

Plus, I have a whole range of belly dance costumes. Oh, and various Halloween type costumes.

My neighbors are used to seeing me check the mail in one costume after another.

I haven't, but my sister worked briefly at a children's party space, and had to dress up as Barney. She is still traumatized.

I used to be a dancer, so I've worn a lot of weird costumes in public. But, when I was doing children's theater, I got to be Pluto for a time. that was a ton of fun--instant celebriety--after each show, we characters would walk through the crowd getting hugs and handshakes. We each had a human assistant to keep the crowds under control and help us navigate our way back to the dressing room. All that fun and a paycheck too. Man, that was the best job...
