i watched the movie when i was pregnant and loved it very much... despite some technical drawbacks, it is indeed a great movie to see for someone who is planning or about to have a child, but here's the thing...
i wouldn't advise it to anyone with a possibility of having birth in hospital.
if you know you're gonna be at home or birthing center, or if you are still considering (in that case, its a great movie to see to make the right choice for you) it's good, but if you know you are gonna be at the hospital (like i did) i would actually strongly advise against it - watch it after you have the baby...
after i watched it, i just kept having this image of me going to the hospital and doctors and nurses poking and proding me, and medicating me and stuff like that, but
in the end my hospital experience was nothing like that at all...
it was everything me and my husband wanted and the staff was totally respectful of our wishes, we turned off the lights, everyone was very very quiet, they didnt start me on pitocin even though it took me FOREVER to get over 4 cm, they waited till the cord stopped pulsating after the baby was born, didnt insist on the eye ointment and so on...
i think it is important to surround yourself with positive images before birth, and while the movie is great, it might not be the best thing to see for someone who IS pregnant and KNOWS she'll go to the hospital...
BTW, sorry to barge in on you like that

im not in your club, just noticed this thread as i was scrolling down the forums
