I so thinking of just going with prefold's and Fuzzi Bunz (for dh and babysitters) but I am affraid I might regret it. I love my print AIO's but I have so many so I don't think I could choose which ones to get rid of. So I am thinking all or nothing. I also have a baby coming in Oct. so I will have 2 in dipes so that really makes me want to keep things simple.

Have you simplified? How do you feel now? Do you love it? Do you hate it?

I simplified greatly, though a lot of what we don't use is still in a box around here waiting for me to sell it. I really don't regret it at all. It is a bummer to not get to shop with all the wonderful WAHMs out there, but truly all the buying and trying was getting very EXPENSIVE, plus I'm a horribly slow hyena which can get frustrating. I like that diaper changes are easy now as is washing. I got tired of matching up dipes/soakers. Ugh. I'm thinking of allowing myself one purchase a month or something now that I'm used to the uniformity, but I'm like you I'm worried if I start getting some variety, I may not keep with my nice simple system. At any rate, wishing you luck in your decision. Crazy how attached we can get to pee/poop catchers. :LOL

I used to be crazy for dipes. Way too much money out the door. Way too attached. Way too much time dreaming over and wishing for dipes.

We did simplify. I have FB and kept my VK fitteds and prefolds. All I had been using was FB. Now in the heat DD is in prefolds snappied.

I think we may slide back over to prefolds and wool. But, nothing fancy for me anymore. Some dyed prefolds and I want to try dyeing some myself. I can knit DD's covers.

I have to say it was very freeing for me to go back to a very simple system. I am very happy with my decision. No regrets here.

Yes and yes
Just over a month ago I got fed up with the overflowing stash of fitteds, prefolds, wool covers, PUL covers, pockets and AIOs and I decided to simplify and go with only AIOs for day time, a few select fitteds and wool covers for naps and FBs for night. Makes sense, right? Well, I hate it!! I don't have enough AIOs for the day and lately they have been letting me down on outings. I got leaks twice yesterday and thats never happened before! I'm so frustrated. I see it as a sign that I made the wrong decision lol. I want all my fitteds back so badly. So here I am, back in action. I'm by no means a Hyena, although I have scored a few select items that I adore and am waiting impatiently for lol (KP!). So after my experience I would say try it first and see if its doable before selling/trading off your fluff. Hopefully you have a better experience than I did and am!

I have put all my fitteds and semi-fitteds away in the converted "toy chest" and put all my prefolds and flats out in the basket for easy access. I'm on day 6 or 7 of flats during the day and prefolds or flats at night and love it. I have kept my aios out in the diaper bag (and dh gets into the fitteds when he changes ds), but otherwise, it's flats all the way. I've kept all my covers accessable, but a lot of the time I let ds run around in just a snappi'd or pinned flat and t-shirt. I've debated listing some stuff on ebay, but thought I'd just put them out of sight (out of mind) and see how that works for a while before doing anything too drastic! :LOL But so far, I love how clean everything is and how easy it all is!

i think i have a pretty simple stash that consists of pfs/trim-fitteds/eezi-folds and aios. ds goes coverless during the day and wears aios when we go out or when dh changes him. i have only 1 fitted and i only kept it because it's aplix and dh likes it :LOL . i'm working on getting more aios - i'd like an even dozen - then my simple stash will be complete and i love it!

i simplified a long time ago, and i'm glad i did.
we use all AIOs and pockets (mostly FB for pockets, and a few different WAHMs for the AIOs) and really, it's so much easier for me, for dh, for everyone. last year i had a billion fitteds, covers, pfs, etc. and it was too overwhelming for me.

We have simplified and I am SO glad! I adored my lovely stash, but it was just too much to keep up with and we certainly didn't need it all.
Currently, my stash is 90% pockets, 10% organic fitteds and wool

Couldn't be happier

I've kind of simplified...now I've got a stash of prefolds and a stash of fitteds. :LOL I keep thinking I'll go all prefolds except for a select few nighttime diapers, but I like the prints on my fitteds too much to part w/ them. I know..it's
, but it works for us! I don't own any pocket AIO's though, and only a handful of AIO's for the diaper bag (which is really for the benefit of the childcare people at the Y!
) And we use all wool covers!

I've been simplifying to one brand of fitted (Mutts 3-step) and wool. I got rid of everything with PUL a long time ago because DS got a rash EVERY time we used it. I've been thinking of my prefolds again, but since dipe changes are always a battle, I think fitteds are the way to go for us.
It's a lot easier to know that any of the soakers can snap into any of the diapers. And that all of my covers work with all of the diapers. I'd say I'm definately glad.

We've only got prefolds, wool and VB AIO's. I
it. I do wish I had more AIO's (they're easier on a thrashing toddler), but that's it.

A couple of months ago I simplified, and sold everything except prefolds on ebay to get some paypal for my newest hobby- soapmaking. For a while I really liked the simplicity, but now I wish I would've hung on to some of the pockets for outings, etc. Plus now I just bought a bunch of new fitteds (and a snap press so I can just make my own!) and I didn't really have anything good to sell to pay for all of it. I ended up using my credit card for most of it. My advice is: if you don't really NEED the money, don't sell stuff you think you might want again in a couple of months! But then again, it's fun buying new fluff, so part of me is glad I got rid of so much before. I don't stalk the hyena dipes; I enjoy finding deals on ebay and trying out new wahms who are still reasonably priced and have good availability!

I've never been a hyena but I experimented quite a bit w/dd 1 and saved my faves for dd2. Now that dd2 is here (4/28/05) I'm 100% happy that I trimmed down my stash because right now prefolds are the only diapers that appeal to me. I just don't have time to sort through doublers and deal with any extra laundry volume. I have 2 doz beloved pockets in then next size up and frankly I wonder if I'll even want to use them when the time comes.

I'm in the middle of simplifying right now. I've decided that the time I've been spending on the computer trying to snag dipes is eating into more productive activities I could be doing, like sewing for example, and I spend way $$ more than I *need* to. Once I discovered that I love prefolds, I decided to go with about half prefolds and pins (or snappi, but I prefer pins), half fitteds. All my fitteds are OC. They are mostly ecobaby organic one-size. I just can't STAND hemp any more!!!!!
I'm using both wool and PUL covers, though.

I'm so happy with my decision. So is DH, since all the fitteds are the same... men (at least mine) love simplicity

I love the natural color of everything. I have my hyena/WAHM diapers stored away til I sell them... I'll use the nb FCBs and VKs and Mutts and SOS and such on my new baby and then sell everything off once he grows out of them. Look for me on the tp sometime late fall!

Oh wait, if all of us in this thread are simplifying I guess you won't be interested! :LOL

I just simplified ds's already simple stash a bit more. Now it is snappi/pinned Toddler prefolds and wool soakers/honeyboy! wool covers for me, and premium prefolds laid in either a bummis or prorap cover for dh. Simple, easy, inexpensive, and it works great. I definitely don't regret simplifying. Also, I have had two in diapers before and will have two in diapers again in Sept, and it is definitely easier on all involved to have a simple stash. Easier for washing, easier for babysitters, grandma, and daddy.

Oh, and I forgot to add,
If our new baby ends up being a thrasher when he is a little older(an extremely hard baby to change because they can't stay still for more than 1 second) then I will probably go all gmar prefitteds and wool soakers and it will be even more simplified. lol

Yep, I sold off 90% of my fitteds and went with pockets and prefolds/flats. I am loving it. Nothing hyena left in my stash except the wool I guess. And I love it. I realized yesterday that it had been an entire week without putting on a fitted and I didn't really miss it. Way less overwhelming and I finally found what I love.

I simplified about 9 months ago and LOVE it.

We use only SOS fitteds (and a couple Fireflys) with different wool soakers at home

and Petite Toddler Fuzzi Bunz for going out.

That's it. Plain, simple, and works great for us.

I simplifed about a year ago and am very glad I did. I totally agree with a previous poster said:

Quote:
I used to be crazy for dipes. Way too much money out the door. Way too attached. Way too much time dreaming over and wishing for dipes.
Also way too much time sorting out which soaker went with each fitted, checking that each different fitted was dry after the low dryer cycle (because I didn't want to destroy the elastic with hot dryer cycles like a good friend of mine did), thinking about which diaper to put on the baby, washing poop off fitteds (takes way more time for me than washing off prefolds, due to the leg gathers on fitteds), explaining the ever-changing stash to DH, etc. Really too much time! I decided that to achieve my goals of finishing my dissertation and spending quality time with DS and DH, I needed to spend less time on diapering!

I simplified to 100% prefolds during the day, fuzzibunz stuffed with babykicks duz-it-alls at night, and it works perfectly. Now I'm even simplifying further, doing only *snappied* prefolds during the day often coverless, or with a Motherease airflow cover or wool shorts when going out (I do still enjoy stalking wool and knitting, I must admit). I'm *so* much happier with a simple stash! For our second baby, I plan to start off simple (snappied infant prefolds with wool soakers/longies over them), fuzzibunz or pocket fitteds with wool (depending on how much absorbancy we need) at night. I have zero blow-outs with snappied prefolds, compared to quite a few with fitteds. Laundry is easy with this system too - all the prefolds and pocket stuffers go on in the dryer on the hottest cycle and get dry in one cycle, all the PUL covers and fuzzibunz go in on a low cycle and dry very quickly. YAY, SIMPLE!!!

Yes I simplified and no regrets. Had fun when my now almost 7 y/o was a baby - all the lastest fitteds and aio's. But i craved simplicity and when Tagge was born I did prefolds - just love them.
I also like FB though - so our stash now is FB w/ inserts and prefolds (some dyed) with wool soakers and shorts.
Fitteds just don't do it for me anymore. And to me FB are like an aio so I don't go the aio route anymore.
