I started at ~138 lbs, and today I weighed 160.2. I'm 33 weeks today.

This would seem normal to me, except that I've been around the 160 mark for 3-4 weeks now. Should I be concerned?

I had a somewhat large jump up in weight a few weeks back (to 160) and just seem to be hovering here.

This morning I was not hungry at all. Today all I have eaten is a bowl of cereal, a bunch of almonds, and a big glass of milk with Ovaltine.

I had a big jump--6 lbs--from 28 to 30 weeks, but at my 32 week appointment today, I had lost 1 lb! Are you measuring okay? Does your midwife/doctor seem concerned?

That doesn't seem like a lot of food. Are you nauseous or just don't have an appetite?

I agree that I doubt the weight gain itself is much of a concern if everything else is ok and you are measuring fine. It's pretty normal for weight gain to slow a bit towards the end of pregnancy as your stomach runs out of room and makes you have to eat tiny meals.

However, if you are worried, even if you can't put your finger on exactly why, I think it is worth giving your provider a call. It could be nothing, but it could be your motherly intuition.

I've always measured a few cm behind. At 28 weeks I was 26 cm, at 30 weeks I was 29cm, for example. My MW says I have really tight abs, so maybe I am just holding the baby in more?

I am not nauseous. I just don't feel like eating what we have in our house. I guess my stomach feels a bit off. I've been eating things in the fridge even though I don't feel like eating them, just to eat what we have so it doesn't go bad. And I guess that is not very enjoyable.

This makes me feel a bit better.

I have been scared lately since reading about baby Lachlan coming early, and how his mama just noticed decreased movement and then they found the abrupted placenta, did the emergency C-section, etc. That story has been scaring me. I feel like I am pretty clueless and if that were me I'd just think the baby wasn't very active versus a noticeable "decreased movement". I thin I am making myself scared a little.

I tend to have a lot of fear of the unknown about things. I have a lot of really intense BH contractions quite often, and since my belly has gotten bigger, I'm more uncomfortable. I guess this is so new to me that my mind has worry set as the default.

My MW hasn't said anything about me measuring small. She has noticed the weight jump, but I won't see her again until tomorrow, so I will see if she says anything about plateauing after the jump.

As long as you are measuring okay and all the other vitals are good, I'd not worry too much. I've only gained 6 pounds this entire pregnancy and I'm measuring about 2cm behind. Based on my previous pregnancy, this is completely normal for me. I even lost weight in the last 2 weeks of my previous pregnancy, but my measurement jumped

I think there is a huge range of normal. Just be sure you are eating enough protein and try not too worry about the rest. I'm not eating much either, it makes me feel too full and uncomfortable. I'll snack on a spoonful of peanut butter though, and that helps.

Sounds to me like you're just eating less, thus not gaining as much. That's ok, as long as baby continues to grow. I didn't gain anything between 24-28 weeks, yet my fundal height went from 20cm to 29cm! I think I have probably gained this time around, but we'll see. I had a stomach bug last week and didn't eat for 24 hours, so that might have caused a weight loss, but I doubt it'd be much, and I might have gained it back by now anyway.

Its fine. I did that with all my pgs but this one. Then at the end you will probably gain a few more lbs. Sounds like your weight gain so far has been good. I am not sure how tall you are, but sounds like you are at perfect weights.

However, if you are really concerned, you can find your weight gain on me because I think I took everyones. I have gained WAYYYYYYYYY too much weight and my baby is measuring big.

I'm about 5' 8 1/2".

I hope my belly has grown since last time. It's good to know that you can stay the same weight but still have growth in the belly.

Should my MW be able to tell me how much the baby might weigh right now or if he/she is on track, size-wise? (As in, by feeling my belly, not just the fact that at 33 weeks the babe should be 3-4 lbs, etc)

I have a prenatal tomorrow, so I hope I feel more at ease after that. I think I am freaking myself out a little, hopefully over nothing.

At my last 3 appts I weighted 148, 148 and 149/150. So, I've gained a whopping 2 lbs in about 2.5 months. My doc said it's nothing to be concerned about as I'm measuring normal and my bp is normal, etc.

Unless you've got other issues, I say don't worry. You'll probably pick up a few more pounds towards the end.

Thanks.
It's so helpful to hear this stuff from you all. DH tells me everything is fine, etc, but I can't always believe him, since he is trying to just make things better, rather than really listen to what I am worried about.

I'm sure I'll feel better after seeing my MW tomorrow. I think that's another reason why our appts are increased to every two weeks, because personally I really need that contact with my MW and the reassurance that all is well.

Oh, I understand what you're saying! I did too with my first pg. I read SO many books (bought 7, I think) and scoured the web. It sometimes makes me feel a bit guilty how little I'm reading/researching/worrying this time around. Heh.

There is a little knee or foot or some other tiny body part pushing out on the side of my belly. That is pretty reassuring right now.
:

As for the net
: and the books
:...me too! DH and I don't live near our family or friends right now, and I am a worrywart, in general.

Not really. Only serial u/s's can track baby's growth reasonably well (one u/s can give you a good guess on current weight/growth, but even that can be off by 1-2 lbs, especially as you get closer to due date).

Measuring the fundal height is a reasonable estimate that baby is likewise growing, although you can still have a large fundal height with a small baby and vice versa.

Just be confident that your body is growing the right size baby for you.

Well, everything went fine at my MW appt today. Blood pressure, urine sample, baby's heartbeat, all fine. (The heartbeat was in the 130s and then jumped up to the 150s, which she said was good, that it was the baby getting excited and being responsive, a sign of a healthy baby.)

My weight was up slightly (although I think this is because I had eaten and had a bunch of water, etc.) and my belly size was actually smaller! I was 27 1/2 cm. I swear I remember being 29cm at my last appt. My MW said it's not a concern because if the baby changes position that can affect the measurement.

I basically asked her flat out is there anything at all about me or the baby that concerns you at this time, and she said not at all.
I guess I am just having first time momma jitters.

It's hard, when you hear such heartbreaking stories of others having difficulties, and you start to wonder if you might be one of the "unlucky" ones, too.

Thanks, everyone, for all of your support and encouragement. This board is so helpful. I don't know where I'd be without it!

I am glad to hear that your MW feels there is nothing to be worried about. I think you are wise to ask for more frequent visits if it reassures you somewhat. Pretty soon you should be seeing her every week!

Just so you know, with my previous two pregnancies, I actually lost a couple of pounds during the last month, and somehow the baby kept growing. At my last MW appointment, I had gained 0 pounds. I know they say that it is normal to gain a 1/2 to 1 pound during the last trimester, but I think that it is also fairly common to slow way down in the last 6-8 weeks.

Yes, I just read that today, about the weight gain slow-down. Good thing, too, because a pound a week for seven more weeks would be a lot!

Today after my MW appt I went to the store and bought a whole bunch of food that we don't normally have in the house. It felt much better eating something with a little variety for once. I had a MUCH bigger appetite tonight when it wasn't the same old thing for dinner.
