We're TTC #2 right now, and trying to decide if it would be better to move now or after the baby would be born (to Nevada City/Grass Valley area). I don't know the legal aspects of VBAC in CA, and I don't know if there are many homebirth midwives willing to attend a HBAC, especially in that area. Not too keen on the CNM idea, unless she is truly more "M" than "N".
Anyone know about this situation, or even better, know of any good homebirth midwives who attend VBAC's in northern CA?
I'd be driving 1.5 hrs. to see the only one I can see here, and she's not accepting new clients after next month. I would be open to a UBAC here because I'm so comfortable here and there's a great hospital 6 min. away (about 4 if you're speeding )
So, if I'd have to have an UC either way I'd rather do it here. But if I could find a good midwife out there, I'd rather move now and see her through the whole pregnancy. I'd be so happy if someone could give me some info on this, or point me in the direction of some organization that could give me more info.
ps- the web searches I've done have only come up with a CNM named Vanita Lott (or something like that), who does not attend VBAC's and recommends women get midwifery care with their first children so they don't need to try to have a dangerous VBAC yeah lady, I did that, but sometimes.... anyway.
