DS is 45 lbs, 45 inches. I want a HBB as an "extra" for when we pick a friend up from school (he's normally in a Regent). So price is a consideration, but not the primary thing. Which mid-range seats should I look at?

If it's a narrow seat I'd consider the FPSVB, they're $40 at Albee, but they've been discontinued so they're probably already two years old. Otherwise I think any old HBB Turbo would do.

Does this middle seat have a headrest and a lap/shoulder belt?

DS is about that size and we use a Graco Turbobooster for him that fits him very well.

We have a Graco Turbobooster and Evenflo Big Kid for dd1. Both seats fit her well, but she prefers the Evenflo so that's what we have in the van as her main seat. I think because it's more comfortable than the Graco.
