We have a house guest for a bit. My DH's friend got a job where DH works, but the commute is over an hour each way, so 2 days a week he is staying with us till they move closer (please be soon...). We were ordering pizza one night and due to DD's allergies I can't have dairy.
He asked why I can't eat cheese.
I said "because Gianna is allergic"
He looked very confused. I told him she is breastfeeding.
Dh chimed in "And will be till she is 12" . And that was the end of that. Later than night i was thinking about his comment and I was kinda giggling. i told DH I was proud of him for saying that because maybe he was starting to understand the whole child lead weaning thing. His response "Learn to accept the things you can not change".

So maybe he still doesn't get it, but at least there will be no more talk of "weaning" her. Funny thing is that he was more adamant about weaning at 4 months old than he was at a year. Strange man.....

DH's joke is that she will have to wean on prom night (he says this to his mom every time she asks when DD is going to wean, his mom doesn't like it one bit). I never expected to be nursing a 2.5 year old, I think that sometimes you just don't understand it until you have been there. I know DH thought at one point that toddler nursing was weird, but after seeing how natural and normal it is with his daughter, he has changed.

Mrsboyko, I love this story. :

DD is 12mo and DH doesn't see anything wrong with her nursing now, but is shocked that our down stairs neighbor BF her DD for 3 years. I'm hoping that DH will also "See the light", as I plan on letting DD choose to wean when she wants to. --Unless, of course it really is on Prom night. :
