I've been having a terrible time with headaches. I used to have them really bad before I started seeing a chiro. about 3 1/2 yrs ago, but since I've gotten preg again they've started up again. Only now they are showing up when I wake up if I take an afternoon nap. The last few days I've been not letting myself have that nap, but it's really worn me out not having one. So today I took one with my daughter and sure enough woke up with a headache. And I even took some tylenol before napping to try to keep the headaches away. I just don't know what to do. Does anyone have any ideas?

My midwife suggest I drink at least a gallon of water a day to help with the headaches. My headaches start right when I wake up, and she thinks it's due to dehydration. Also, she suggested eating protien.

I am also suffering from severe headaches. Tylenol does nothing. I've been drinking tons of water. I have a refridgerated face mask thingy that helps for a while. It's really awful.
It's one reason why I can't be on the computer or read or anything right now. It stinks!

Hi there - new to MDC. I'm pregnant with #2, due on Feb. 16th (ds just turned 15 mos). Anyway, I was talking to my OB about this today and she suggested three things for headaches...tylenol, lots of water, and a little caffeine. Hope you feel better.

I do tylenol and warm washrag on my forehead. It seems to clear it up most times.

Hugs to you mama for feeling so under the weather.

Me, too. And I never had headaches before (or rarely, anyway). Even had a weekend long migraine.
I've tried several things and the headaches have gone waaaaay down: drinking lots of water, greatly reducing my sodium intake (ie: fresh veggies and fruits and no processed foods), don't allow myself to get too hungry--I'm always munching on something, and a targeted head massage (but I don't think that helped). HTH!

Thanks guys...I seem to get them no matter how much water I drink. The only thing that usually helps is to go get a soda(I wish that wasn't the only thing that would fix it
)...but the weird thing is it has to be a fountain drink. Weird I know. I'm sorry so many others of you are having the same problem. It really sucks, why can't we just feel great our whole pregnancies???

I'm not a soda drinker usually BUT when I'm in early pg I crave it. Anyway - it has to be fountain too! No cans or two liters, LOL. Poor dh is running all over to get them for me all the time.

My neighbor is an ob nurse and actually suggested I return to my 1/2 cup of regular coffee/day to combat the headaches. I haven't done it yet, though.

I'm sorry! I have been getting a headache once or twice a week too. Thanks goodness I am not getting any migraines!
: I find that Tylenol works after awhile and naps help me too. I really don't know what else?

Take care!

I have a terrible history with migraine headaches, I at least 3 or 4 a month. I've tried everything under the sun and have basically given up and am sucking up the pain.

They get so bad, I have to throwup (sorry TMI) and then force myself to sleep.

I made an appointment with an Osteopath on Monday to see about Craniosacral Therapy, my midwife recommended it. We'll see if it works, I could really use it tonight

pregnancy hormones make your joints loose and so your neck can go out of alignment easily.

this was how i met my chiro. last time i had bad headaches and my friend recommended this chiro. i went and got adjusted and never had another non-sinus headache for the rest of my pregnancy. i went once a month until 36 weeks and then once a week. she had a lot of experiecne with pregnant women.

i believe it made my labor easier, since she adjusted my pelvis each time.

chiropractic care is very good for pregnant women.
