so hopefully this is an appropriate thing to post here as i need advice from informed mamas...

short story is i had a big baby for me (10# 12') and i tore a little. i'd say it's a first degree tear, and it "fits" nicely back together. i've been in bed, took sitz baths once a day for the first four days, am drinking comfrey tea. it doesn't hurt. i am one week pp now and i'm wondering when to check it again, how long it "should" be taking to heal...any advice??

Be careful of the comfrey tea, I read it's not good to drink it for more than a few weeks, but if you have a tear, you might want to use the comfrey as a compress or poultice on your tear instead of drinking it. I also read that yarrow (flowers) can be used in a sitz bath which helps in addition to the comfrey. I just got a few herbal books on herbal healing, that's why I know this...otherwise it'd be out of my head already.

It took about 10 days for my tears to seal up and stop hurting. Last time I am sure I had a tear but I never checked and just kept my legs together and took it easy. The burning when I would pee stopped after about a week.

I'm planning on using a comfrey compress and using fresh comfrey leaf tea in my makeshift sitz bath, they claim it heals everything up really quickly, they claim that in Mexico that midwives use it after birth to help heal.

I swear by comfrey
and I also used positive visualization, kept those legs together, took my placenta in powdered TCM form, and squirted yoni with dilluted iodine everytime I used the toliet... felt 90% in one week, totally healed by 3 weeks...
sending you healing vibes!
