Ok, short sweet and to the point.... I am a nursing student and will have my ADN in May. Working in the health care field I have blindly gotten vaccinations. Are they necessary? Flu? Heb B? DTaP? How do you decide? Where can I get more info for myself?<br><br>

If you're going to be working on the floor and having patient contact, I absolutely believe Hep B was necessary. That's just my opinion.

I have a hard time justifying vaccinating myself and then not my daughter who has been partially vaxed.

my dh is a doc. he doesn't do flu shots. he was vaxxed for hep b when he started med school. i don't know if he'd do it now. he probably would because of the type of practice he's in.

i am a certfied medical assistant, i have not had any vaccines since high school, did not get the flu vaccine and have suffered no ill consequences. exept my first year working in health care i got strep throat every month! i wish there was vaccines for the illnesses that actually bother me! however, i seem to have built a tolerance to strep now and havent had a case in over a year.
