I need to loose a some weight. This isn't about vanity. It's about health. I've come to understand that the regularity of my periods is related to my weight. My periods are far too heavy and long and its impacting my health.

In the past I've simply focused on eating healthier. Lots of veggies and fruit. Lean protein. Occasional indulgences. Pretty much the standard for what is suppossed to be long term health and success.

But in the last year I have developed an intolerance to raw vegetables. I can handle a little bit of spinach on a sandwich, but eat a small salad and very, very bad things happen with my bowels. For the next day its basically like I don't digest anything I eat, be it veggie, meat, starch, whatever. I can tolerate cooked veggies in small to moderate quantities. I'm getting tests done to try to track down the problem.

In the meantime, I need to come up with a healthy eating plan that will allow me to loose weight, but that doesn't emphasize or even really require lots of vegetables. I just don't even know where to begin.

wow, that's really a tough one!
I have no idea on anything to help, but hugs to you.
I will keep thinking and let you know if I can think of any suggestions.

Have you looked at www.doctoryourself.com ?

I know that guy is big on veggie diets and maybe you'll find something there. There is a list of illnesses on the left to scroll through, you could look to see if something strikes you.

best of luck.
maybe trying a natural digestive enzyme like papaya would help...and some probiotics too couldn't be bad.

i hope that you figure out whats going on with your body!

Maybe your gut flora is out of whack. You could try something with lots of good probiotics like kefir or (good plain non-sugarized) yogurt, or just take probiotic pills, which is not nearly so fun.

I have had the same issues. I have very sensitive GI conditions. To ease this you may want to take digestive enzymes that can be bought at a healthfood store, probiotics and try either a greendrink that is vegetable based or try lightly steaming your vegetables. Steaming veggies is suggested to pregnant women with morning sickness b/c it is easier on the bowels. I hope you figure this out.

A past boyfriend of mine had Crohn's Disease/IBS. He could not eat veggies at all because they made him so sick. Has your medical professional looked at this as a possible cause?

Well, I had more tests on Friday and I've got a 4 inch uterine fibroid. The theory at the moment is that it may be physically pushing on my intestine. More tests next week.

Tonight I'm going to try eating avocado. Not remotely low calorie, but at least its something green
