Any suggestions on a brand of prenatal vitamins that don't have any additives and are pretty "clean"? We're thinking about ttc soon and I don't want to get otc vitamins from the regular grocery store...am hoping to find something healthier from Whole Foods or Vitamin Cottage. I think it's probably a good idea to take vitamins as my almost 3 yo still nurses and my health isn't as "perfect" as it was when I conceived my DD.

I really like Rainbow Light or Eclectic Opti Natal. Either one of those can usually be found at healthfood stores or the online equivalent.

I like Rainbow Light too. I use the Complete Prenatal System... it's 6 good-sized pills per day, so if you have any problems taking pills, then you might want something else.

Vitaminshoppe.com has decent prices on it. Sometimes Whole Foods has it for 33% off.

I use Source of Life Prenatals by Natures Plus. They have no synthetics, and are very easily asimilated. Added bonuses of acidophilus, beneficial enzymes, and whole food concentrates. You can find Source of Life/ Natures Plus at most health food stores, co-ops, and many online sites. They are also very affordable and only 2 a day.

i like new chapter and mega-food. both are expensive but i really felt i needed the extra support- i would sometimes take only 3 pills and then i have an inexpensive folic acid to complement.

I'm looking into Rainbow Light Prenatal vitamins. The thought of taking 6 pills a day does not appeal to me at all. So I'm considering the Rainbow Light Prenatal One. I'm just wondering how the Prenatal One is different from the Prenatal System? I'm sure there is something different, otherwise people won't be taking 6 pills/day instead of 1. But I'm assuming its still food based and better than the synthetic vitamins I'm taking now.

The Complete Prenatal System has a lot more "superfoods" and herbs than the Prenatal One. Go to the Rainbow Light website and you can find complete ingredient and nutrition panels for both:

http://www.rainbowlight.com/womens.html

I second the Nature's Plus. I have taken them non-stop since dd's pregnancy which was over 2 1/2 years ago. They have been great all through nursing and now that I'm pregnact again and still nursing they are working really well.

I found the ones at Whole Foods - albeit they are probably a better quality viatmin- but too expensive...I go with GNC Prenatals. They have no sugars )the main thing for me) chemical additivies, preservatives, etc. And they come with iron or without-the without ones I use now that I am nursing.
