Does anyone believe in the heartbeat myths?
I didn't used to believe in it but since I've been kind of hoping this one is a boy and I got a 148 bpm yesterday at the doctor, I'm thinking boy now. My last baby was a girl and her heartrate was always over 150, especially in the first months like I am right now. Thank goodness my u/s is schedule for next month or else I would go crazy wondering. I hope baby isn't shy next month!

The myth was true for my boy and girl!
His HB was always lower than hers.

This baby, I have no idea, I've heard the HB once with the Doppler for about .02 seconds, my mw I am using now must not like to use the Doppler much.

When I first got the pregnancy test I immediately thought it would be a boy. Then we had to have an early u/s and the hb was 160 so I starting thinking girl. Nowadays it's so gender neutral to me though the hb has always been either very high 150s or 160 -- but we're not finding out the gender. We'll see in September if the myth holds true for us

dd and ds were both above 150 almost every time...

when I went earlier this week, the new lo was at 140.
... I'm very curious to see what we have in September. Dh is voting "alien"

Was never true for my boy or girl, they were both in the 140s most of my pregnancy. This baby's heart rate was in the 160s once and then the 140s the next time, we'll find out in 4 weeks whether it's a boy or a girl (if baby cooperates).

I think it has a lot more to do with how active the baby is (activity increases the heart rate), what the mom has eaten and what the mom is feeling, how big the baby is (smaller tends to = higher heart rate), and so on. I don't think there's any truth to this myth at all.

I don't believe it. DD's heart rate was always in the 150's after about 20 weeks (in the 160's before then). This baby is a boy and his heart rate is always in the low 150's.

I've always heard that boys are usually in the 130's and girls are in the 150's.

It's funny because at this point I'm open to believing anything in order to hear that I'm having a boy.
Ofcourse I will be happy with either one. I'm just partial to boys. But the heartrate has been in the 140's both time I've heard it so far. I've only heard it two times since finding out I was pregnant though so I don't really have a lot to compare it to.

This is what I'm thinking. Although both times I heard the heartbeat so far (one with an u/s and the other with the doppler) the technician said the baby was moving a *lot* while trying to catch the heartbeat so that would lead me to believe that the heartrate should be higher if they are moving a lot.
So that kind of confused me. But then again, I'm easily confused anyway.

Both of my boys had high heartrates (over 150, often 160) until the 3rd tri when they slowed to 140s. This baby was too active to get a good heart rate on, even on ultrasound, but for the 2-3 seconds we did hear it, it was about 160. So who knows?? BUT, I can tell you that this pregnancy sure "feels" different, AND, this baby *looked* different...it was weird, with my boys, they both looked exactly the same on ultrasound (except Ian had very short legs and Connor stretched out a lot more) but their profiles were exactly the same. Literally, I can't tell them apart. But this baby has a very different profile!
